My daughter was at her dads over the weekend and when she came home her eyebrow was swollen and he told me that she did something to her eye on the swing set he wasn't sure what happened. When I asked her she said her cousin a year older than her hurt her on the swing she was tired that night but seemed fine. The next morning I went to get her dressed and when she laid down on the floor her eyes rolled to the back of her head and move slowly from side to side where I can only see the browns of her eyes and she could not adjust them back until she sat up. She talked to me while she was laying down saying "if I rub them they will feel better" then proceeded to rub her eyes and sit up I made her lay down again so I could look and they did it again. I took her to the doctor within the hour and she didn't do it then and she told me that because she didn't tear up there was nothing wrong with her cornea and she could talk to me with her eyes rolled back so it wasn't a sezier. She said she may have had a scratch on her eye and it healed or it was allergy's. everything seemed fine and all the swelling was gone and she didn't do it again, but this morning when I went to change her she asked me to do it standing up so I made her lay down she kept her eyes shut tight I asked her to open them and they were rolled back again so I called the dr and they want to see her tomorrow morning but Im afraid if they cant decide what it is they will say its nothing. I am going to keep taking her to drs until I feel comfortable but has anyone ever experienced this before? It is really scary!! No other moms I have talked to have ever had this happen and Im really worried She is totally happy and normal and doesn't rub her eyes or anything during the day doesn't seem in any pain I haven't seen her have any tears that I can recall since the first time happened but she has had no reason to cry either so I'm at a loss and would appreciate any fresh views
We went back to her Pedi this morning and the eye rolling has gotten worse last time we saw the nurse practitioner this time we saw the dr. and he was concerned and thankfully admitted that he has no idea what is going on and she is getting an EEG on monday and his course of action so far is to keep taking her to drs until they find something he asked me to schedule an appt with an eye dr. while waiting for the results. Unfortunately he didnt think that he could get her in with an neurologist until August unless there is something on her EEG. But I would appreciate any advice still. Ok more news I took her to the er today and no head injury and have made her appts. with a eye specialist and a neurologist for mid week so happy I got her in so early to the two.
I think I would ask the Doctor to check to make sure she does not have a concussion or something like that. Something similar happened to my Mom when she was little and it turned out she had a concussion.

K., If you are insured and have a PPO, I would highly recommend getting her into a pediatric neurologist (just to rule things out). My daughter has been doing a lot of eye rolling for the last 6 months. Not the same situation as your daughter, however. The neurologist had her do an EEG yesterday and we have an MRI scheduled for next week. We suspect it's nothing serious but the neurologists don't mess around. They like to look at everything to be on the safe side. I'm afraid a pedi won't be certain as to what's causing this. When it comes to eye rolling, it could be related to a concussion or something else and you want to have that checked out. In the meantime, try not to worry too much. Fortunately, she seems to be behaving normally. However, you just never know; have it addressed by a specialist or at least call your pedi's office and see if they think going to a pedi neurologist is a good idea. Good luck.
Yeah just keep on taking her to different doctors until one of them tells you something. That does not seem normal to me. Hope all goes well.
At the risk of sounding alarmist, I would have the little one at the E.R. immediately. We've just seen what happened to an actress who'd had a head injury that seeme innocuous but turned out to be fatal. I am the mother of three and grandmother of seven. Have never experienced what you are now, but have had other emergencies and they are not fun, but it ois better to be safe that sorry. It seems to me that this condition is ongoing and needs attention now.

Your mom and you know your child. Don't let the doctors just tell you it's nothing if you feel it's more. You could take her to the neurologist. We see Dr. Joshua Rotenberg in Stone Oak for my son's epilepsy. Doesnt' hurt to have a second opinion from a specialist. Just keep a close eye on her so you can tell them everything. Don't panic, just follow your judgment.
Maybe she get dizzy when she lays down. My older daughter had a head injury when she was 11. She complained about getting dizzy when she laid down for several months afterwards. She is 19 now and is ok, but I think occasionally still gets dizzy.
My baby fell and hit her head and did that too. I didn't take her to the dr, but I really should have. She got better...but what if she didn't? What if she had serious problems as a result? I do highly recommend that you get a second opinion.

I would strongly suggest a dr. that speciliazes in the eye and cranial activities- I would not delay this- the sooner you find out the beetter you will feel- it may be something that will correct itself- but if she is aware herself that something is not right with her eyes- I would not delay............

Get a second and third opinion if you have to. I'm a mother of T. 6 and 3 yrs of age and I have not witness them doing rolling their eyes like that.

I would probably call a pediatric neurologist to get a second opinion. Pediatricians are great - and we love ours - but this kind of thing sounds like it's outside their specialty. I would just about have a heart attack if that happened to me and I think you're right to want to find out what it is.
