Hi, my LMP was 2/10/11. I tested for HPT and it gave me a weak positive result. I occasionally feel abdominal cramps. Now I had a slight vaginal spotting. I tested for HPT twice and in both occasions, it yielded a weak positive result. One was taken on a Sunday morning and the other one on a Monday afternoon. Am i pregnant?

Thanks Karlyn. I will see the OB tomorrow. I will let you know what happened.
I believe HCG will only be elevated, be it in small or significant amounts, in cases of normal pregnancy, ectopic pregnancy, H-mole, miscarriage and the like. I'm not manifesting any symptoms for ectopic pregnancy. I'll try to seek the OB.

Thanks Tara. Guys I just had my menstruation today. I don't know if this is just spotting but it looks like a regular menstruation to me. How come my HPT produced a faint color?

Hi Adansmama..
Yeah, I know I am over-analyzing things. I'm 30 years old and this would be my first time to have a baby if ever. What I thought of as a regular menstruation now suddenly stopped. It was a mixed color of brownish and red discharge. I put on a sanitary napkin. The first napkin was soaked with the discharge, the second is only a spotting of brownish tinge discharge..

Hi Theresa,

Really? You just don't know how that kind of relieved me. Yes, I will keep you updated. I'll see the OB tomorrow. Thanks guys. Thank you for sharing your thoughts. May we all be happy. :-D God bless everyone.

Patty

Thank you so much guys for your replies. I do appreciate that you went out of your way to reply to my query. You both have given me hope however I feel a little sad as my hopes have suddenly disappeared because I just had my monthly period. I thought it was just spotting but I was wrong as the two napkins were soaked with blood. I also tested again for HPT and it gave me a disappointing very very faint line again. Frustrating.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Well, I went to my OB. She had me tested my urine for prenancy test. She then sent me for a transvaginal ultrasound. The results of the unltrasound are good. I have a healthy uterus, ovaries etc. She then advised me to take clomid 50 mg, 2 tablets/night. Clomid is expensive. And then another drug that could thicken my uterine lining as clomid will make it thinner. Hoping to get positive result this April.

id say yes. wait another week and test again. just because you are prego doesnt mean you will have any pregnancy symptoms. you may feel them later but not always and usually not all of them. if you want to be prego congrates and just realax and enjoy. if you dont want to be prego see the dr as soon as possible. good luck.

I have always been told any "positive" lines in a pregnancy test could be a possible pregnancy. There is a chance of a "false positive" though, which is due to more of the HCG hormone in your body. And not all pregnant women experience swollen/tender nipples during the first month, but it is fairly common. You may just be one of the lucky ones ;-) I advise you to schedule an appointment with your O.B. if you can, and have them do a blood test to know for sure. I have known women who have tested positive with a HPT and were not really pregnant, but it's best to be safe than sorry. If you are pregnant then you'll be able to get the treatment you need so you don't get sick from not knowing if you are pregnant or not. I ended up in the hospital with a kidney infection with my first child because I didn't know I was pregnant. I suspected it but never really thought twice about it because I was so young, so my advise to you is to have it checked for sure, just so you don't end up in the hospital with a more serious problem or illness. Good luck to you, I hope all turns out well! :-)

there are hundreds of pregnancy symptoms and most of them can be caused by hormones or just plain nothing at all. none of us can help you with this. your only option is to wait and see. get another test, see your doctor. i don't get the swollen nipples thing - mine never were. i think you're over-analyzing big time.

With my last pregnancy we had to leave supper with friends because I started my period. The next week when we got together I shared my news I was pregnant! My "period" had stopped and over the next weekend at a 40th party I couldn't drink because one sip made me sick. Then the next day while babysitting the little girl kept laying on my boobs and they hurt so bad that I knew so took a test the next morning and sure enough I was pregnant. That period must have been the implanting. I bleed a little bit here and there until I was stitched for some reason. Always put me in a panic.
I have always been told too you can have a false negative but not a false positive.
I would take another test and go into the dr! (but they might make you wait til 8-10 weeks along)

Hi Patty, I actually had a little bleeding for a day or two (just like you describe) with all three of my pregnancies.

It started, I took a breath, it stopped next day.

Wait a few days (I KNOW how hard that is!) take another test, then call the doc. Keep us updated!

Congratulations maybe!!

:)

You might have been pregnant and have had an early miscarriage. It is more common than people think. HPT has "increased" the number of miscarriages because we now can detect pregnancy earlier than ever.

I am sorry for your possible loss and wish you luck on the next try.
