Yes, it is reversable. I have a friend who recently had one and his insurance paid for it. Don't know where you are, but his doctor is in Huntsville AL

I know it is possible to reverse it, but it costs quite a bit and it's not always successful...I don't know how you would get your insurance to pay for it though...sterilization or the vasectomy itself is usually covered, but since this is an elective procedure to ultimately cause more strain on the insurance company, my guess is that they wouldn't pay for it...get several opinions before you go down that road!

A vas. reversal is typically a very simple and inexpensive procedure (especially compared to a tubal reversal) - I think less than $1000 in most cases. Just talk to his regular doctor about the procedure and everything involved. Good luck :]

After our second child my husband and I agreed that he would have a Vasectomy. The day we went in for the consult the doctor told us to consider it permenant steralization. He said that a reversal was possible but very expensive and not always a success. If children are really something you want there are other options. You can check with a fertility specalist, adoption is always an option if you are open to that. Good Luck!! I hope this helps.

I don't know how much it cost but my older son is trying to come up with the money he said about $3000.00 to have it done to him cause he had it done after he had 3 children with his first wife course he doesn't support them his youngest is 17 I think but that another story but I have heard sometimes it can be reversed but I don't know if it can be done every time to everyone well I talked to my son yesterday {Sunday} and he has had the reversal and it worked he was tested and has 35% of his sperm and he says that the operation can cost anywhere from 3000 to 10000 depending on the doctor I think he had his done in Tyler Tx. but I would have to ask him let me know if you want the doctors name and I will get a hold of him and find out good luck

It is easier for a man to get it reversed than it is for a woman, so yes reversal is possible and to find out the cost contact your insurance company.

My husband and I have a surgery scheduled for next month after a lot of research. We didn't want to proceed if the odds weren't in our favor. Most physicians charge between $6000-$10000 with a 89% success rate. Our surgeon is charging us $2200, because he does it as a ministry against birth control - he is in Conway, AR. We have been told by numerous doctors the number of years since the vasectomy has no impact, however the quality of the vascetomy may be a factor (scarring). Our insurance will no cover it, but if anyone has a solution to that, please let me know! Good luck, G.!

It is possible to have a vasectomy reversed, but the operation is not always successful. You should speak with a urologist to get more information. Of course adoption is always an option for you as well, if the reversal doesn't work. Good luck!

Hi G.,

I know they do it a lot in Houston. It is possilbe. With that kind of thing, I'd research different doctors'/clinics' success rates, though, because you want someone who's good at it!

Good luck,
L.

Hi G.,
Yes, it is possible to have a vasectomy reversed. We did that and had two little boys after the reversal! We went to Dr. Cary Leverett in New Braunfels TX. You might look up his website. It was a good experience and went well. It cost us 2200 dollars back in 2002. I think it has gone up a little since then, but he is one of the cheapest vas reversal doctors around and did a great job for us! Best wishes.
