So my husband just got in today from Iraq for leave and he is going to be in until two day after Valentine's day. I didn't not know when he was coming home but I thought it would be after V-day because he just left in November. So what are some nice last semi-last minute date ideas?

What can I do next?

my guess is that he wants all the home cooked meals he can get while he is at home. fix his favorite, light some candles , watch a movie, and then get romantic. let him know that there is no place like home. good luck and god bless you and him too. R.

Belle, I am also a Soldiers Wife and I feel for you when they leave! Mine has been in for 3 years and hasn't been deployed yet and I think it is because of his job which I am not going to list here! But this is our 1st anniversary together as married! Sure last year we where engaged but I also lived in IL and he lived here in NC at the time! I didn't move here till the end of April. 2 Weeks after we got married lol...Long story, so this is our first together and we have been talking about what we wanted to do and I really don't know what I wanna do. I know I want to go to a nice dinner, but that is all I know what I want to do. We are gonna celebrate the Sat before or after! Never on that actually day! In 2007 I went to Vegas over Valentines Day with my ex-husband and 2 days afterward we went to one of those boiling posts where you dip different meats in a pot or veggies and then you get into desserts and dip things into chocolate, i so which there was a place around here like that....Good Luck hun

Personally, I'd be happy with a candlelight (take-out) dinner at home followed by movie night on the sofa, but I'm a homebody. No kids, of course.

Glad he's home safe. Have a great time!

We actually never go out ON the 14th. Instead we change the date to a week early or late and have our pick of places and usually end up paying 1/3 to 1/2 less than if we did it on vday.

I would suggest, however, avoiding a hotel unless your hubby has a thing for hotels. I know when I was home on leave I just wanted to be HOME. If a night away from the kids is on the table I would talk with your hubby as to whether or not he would want to stay in a hotel, or get overnight babysitting for the kids so you two can have the house to yourselves.

I am so grateful to your husband for his service and to you for your sacrifices too!
Do you guys enjoy the Theatre, concerts or going to a dueling piano bar. I also enjoy getting dressed up to go to a nice dinner or going to any place that has live entertainment. Enjoy your time together and have fun!!

My advice: avoid going out on Valentine's Day like the plague!!! **Everybody** will be out then, and you will have to wait 3 hours to get a table at any restaurant! Go out this week or early next week to celebrate, but if you want to do something "nice" on V'Day itself, stay at home and order some takeout food or make a nice, home-cooked meal and light some candles.

Dinner and maybe a nice night home alone. Just something to spend lots of quality time together :)
