Hi there, I know you don't want to spend much but I have had my dyson for 6 years and it is still working great and we love it...
It was really worth the money for us.

We need a GOOD new vacuum cleaner that is very inexpensive. Any suggestions? We have a Bissel, but it didn't work very well (only had it about 2 years, and it's dead now). Something very dependable but inexpensive. THANKS!
Thanks to you all. I still have no idea what we're getting, but we need something fast!! :o) I do understand about getting what you pay for, but going down to one income completely on faith and no extra money doesn't allow us to spend extra. You can't spend what you don't have. LOL We'll be getting something soon. Thank you again.

I know you want cheap, but Oreck is the way to go. Orecks are the best, longest lasting vacuum you will own. It will also be the last one you own. It is worth 10 hundred dollar vacuums. We have had ours for 10 years, it works awesome and when you buy one at the little shop at 45th and Bell in Amarillo, they give you lifetime annual service. I was buying a $100 vacuum every 2 years. So, there you go, $500 worth of vacuums and all the hassle. Go check them out if you haven't already bought one.
I have 2 Hoovers. One upstairs and one downstairs. Both are about 10 yrs old. They have always worked well for me and each was less than $200.
I am in the market soon for a new vacuum and I am getting an Oreck. The Hoover's still work well and I will keep them for backup and when daughter goes off to college in a few years.
My favorite vaccuum was an old bag hoover that I had until it exploded- I have had a crappy Eureka and now I have a Dyson - so not worth it. I have heard that a top consumer reports is a Kenmore vacuum from Sears. I did look at Oreck, but read they were not good on high pile carpet, which I have.
We bought the Consumer Reports "best buy" and it is the Eureka Boss. I think it was like $129-ish. It works great. It uses a bag and has an allergen filter.
Hi Misti! I've posted this before: The cheapest hoover is better than the top of the line Eureka! I also don't like Dirt Devil or Bissel! Hoover is the ONLY way to go; on a budget or not!
HOOVER Widepath Tempo. I bought it for $68 on amazon and didn't have to pay shipping on it because I have their PRIME shipping. Next day shipping would have cost me $3.99; but instead I got it 2nd day. It's an excellent vacuum. Uses a bag, but has filters for allergens and such. I love it!
All I can say is you usually get what you pay for!! I'd spend a little extra, it'll save you in the long run! Just a Grammie's advice! D.
I also like the Eureka (the boss) recommended by Consumer Reports. Bought it to replace a Hoover Windtunnel and it works just as well.
