WHY is it that the Week before you go on vacation is TORTURE???!! They Overload you w/ work because you will be out of the office for 5 days - I dont know HOW they survive without me !! THEN you have to make LISTS of things to BRING and SHOP for before you go, then Actually find the time to shop and pack those items!!!!!!!!!!!!! All While having to stay late at work to get work stuff done, because there isn't enough time in an 8 hour day ! and Who takes Lunch?? Not I! OH MY
Then your weeks vacation is Enjoyable but not Very Relaxing due to being on vacation (in this instance) with two other couples and 3 little girls all Younger than Mikey (under 2) !!!! EEEEKKKKK hahaha this vacation will be the Best birth control Ever ;-)
THEN when you do go back to work the following Monday your desk is piled high w/ messages, reports, lists, packages, etc that Apparently ONLY YOU have the capability of doing -which is Pure B/S !
I know, I know I should be VERY THANKFUL for being employed and able to take vacations But MAN its Stressful !!!
Does this happen to Anyone else or am I the only lucky one?? LOL
THANK GOD FOR WINE !

What can I do next?

What I love is the "lets rent a condo" vacation. Great, does it come with a housekeeper/cook? We did this a couple of years ago and my family had a great vacation, I on the other hand didn't have a vacation. Still did laundry, still cooked and cleaned. Yep, not my idea of a vacation.

Yes, always that way. I remember coming back from vacation one time to find my entire cubicle at work stacked with work. My boss was supposed to cover for me, but only did a little bit and the rest just accumulated for my return. UGH!

Thankfully, I'm self-employed now, so I have some control over my workload and can make sure the time around my vacations aren't too crazy.

Good luck with your trip! Hope it's not as stressful as you're envisioning!

This just happened to me. I feel your pain, lol. I was only gone for three days and my desk was piled high full of papers, etc. And your right no one else seems to help! That is why the next vacation I go on it will only be my husband and I on a beach with no cell service. HA

It happens to all mothers, and while it gets a little easier each year as the kids get older it's never the same as it was pre-kid. As for the work pre-overload and post-overload, that's SOP.

We went to CA for 4 days with the kids and felt the same way. I was so busy the next 2 days getting caught up at work and then washing everything, the unpacking and organizing and putting away is a lot of work too! Then you are ready for another day or two off! And the weekends dont count!

Wow sooo true! Thats why someone I know takes one month vacations. After the work prep it takes a week to unwind, two weeks of enjoying the vacation activities and a week to try and get back into work mode.

This happens to my hubby every time we go away. Sometimes they even call him and he may have to answer.

Oh hun - just wait till you get BACK from vacation! That week is even worse!

I honestly question whether vacations are even worth it. So sad.
