So at this present moment my hubby is playing softball and he is the type that plays hard. He always gets "down and dirty". Well I am fed up w/ trying to get his clothes clean. He has a white t-shirt w/ the companies logo on it and gray pants. The pants I can handle , but the shirt I am having trouble w/. Plus w/ 4 boys, I'm sure to have to be cleaning more down the road. Can any moms share their secrets w/ getting clay, dirt, grass, all that mess out of clothes?? Thank you so much.

I have been using the SHOUT Advance on his shirt, but that is getting too expensive.

Also I'm not a big fan of bleach. I try not too use it very often.

What can I do next?

I have been told (and it works!) to use dishwasher detergent on the pants in the really bad grass, dirt areas. It does work.
I have O. of those kids who just LOVES to fling himself on the ground at every opportunity.

I remember my mother squeezing lemon juice mixed with her own spit believe or not and scrubbing it into the stains with a soft toothbrush then sitting the garment out in the sun for some time before washing it. My brothers baseball uniforms were always sparkling, go figure. I personally have never done this trick as I don't have kids who play "down and dirty" type sports but I guess I'd give it a try if the time comes:) GL!

Oh can I relate! But not about softball. In any case, try baking soda. It really whitens. Just put on the spot, rub in a bit and throw in the wash. How do you feel about bleach? I'm slowly doing away with it, but if it works for you then try that.
Take care.

I make a paste of Oxiclean powder, a little detergent and some vinegar. The vinegar will make it bubble. Pour over stains and scrub with a toothbrush. It has darn near never failed me!

Have you heard of Fels Naptha soap? It's a bar soap you find in the laundry section of the store. My daughter played softball for years. This was the only thing that worked for getting out grass/sweat/dirt stains.

You wet the end of the bar a bit and then rub it into the stain. Worked like a charm for me. I haven't bought it in years but I see it's still online so maybe you can find some and try it. Good luck!

My son plays baseball and has white pants. The very best thing I can use is Simple Green. It is a concentrate but I use it straight. It comes in a spray and you can buy the large refill. I find it at Wal Mart in the automotive section. I think others have found it in the household cleaner section. Just spray it directly all over the shirt and then wash. Kind of smells - not bad - just different. But it has gotten everything I have sprayed it on out. Red clay, red ground in dirt, blood, chocolate - everything. I use it on my hubby's white work shirts. Those have had car dirt, roofing material, who knows what else on them. Anyway - sorry for the long reply. I just think it's great stuff :)

I wash ballet clothes so I don't have any personal experience with this, but a friend told me that she puts her boys u informs in the dishwasher and they come out perfect. I just saw another post on here about something else and a momma mentioned that she pours peroxide in her washer and it cleans the ball uninforms perfectly! Good luck!
