Update on Son Who Swallowed Battery.

Thank you all for your concerns. I am truly grateful. I took him to the Childrens hospital and they did the x-ray. It's already in his bowels. They also called in a poisonous specialist who deals with situations just like this. There are many factors that they look at when batteries are ingested. The size, the type, and where its current location is. Since the batter was already in his stools and will come out with the next bowel movement they were not concerned. Also, this is a button battery and because of the size it's easy to get lodged any where in the intestines and even in the esophagus, luckily this didn't happen to him. They are not concerned about his health at all. They did say if it was in his stomach or esophagus they would have to surgically remove it. This time we were definitely lucky. I have called the dentist office and spoke to the office manager. Although it was not their fault he swallowed the battery, it was easy to get to for a 3 year old. I suggested they take those flashlights out of the treasure chest and toss them. They were thankful for the call and helpful. Thank you guys again, we are home and it's been a very long day.

I'm so glad you took him in. My DD once played with tacks and I thought she swallowed one and did the whole xray thing. It's much better that you got him seen than waited it out. I'm glad he's OK. And he did a good thing to tell you, too.

Oh, and I'd feed him raisins, berries, prunes... ;)

So glad for your update and that things are okay. I'd make sure you find it when he goes to the bathroom, instead of assuming it has come out. The dentist's office has to be eternally grateful to you.

Thank God!! I read your last post, but didn't comment as everyone gave you the same advice I would have given and you were already on your way to the ER. I did say some prayers for you and I am glad everything is ok!! Such a dangerous situation. Good idea to call the dentist office and let them know too. Have a great day!!

Thank you for letting us know how he is. I was so concerned and hoping he was okay. Everyone out there should watch all batteries. Kids will put strange things in their mouths.

Thank you for the update! Wow, you dodged a scary event today. I'm glad all is well; I really did think of him off and on all day! Order take out and call it a day---I'm sure you're happy to be home with your little guy.
And I truthfully never really thought about a battery being dangerous, but I have a 2yr old. I will definately keep that in mind from now on!
