Congratulations! Babies are the best! I'm a mother of a child with downs. All children are gifts.
Most of yall know i posted last week about the test came back postive for downs. Yesterday we met up with a high risk doctor that my obgyn wanted us to go to. They did a scan ultrasound and everything looks good. The baby is measuring correctly for 18 weeks 2 days, the heart rate was 159, and everything looks good. They didn't seem to concerned. They had to ask if we wanted any other test done and so we deny it and going to wait to he is born. Yes, he! It's a boy! :)
this make our 4th child. 2 older girls and 2 younger boys. :)

Hi - I didn't read your prior question, but just saw this one. Thought I'd share my experience with ya! About this same time last year I was pregnant and tested positive for Downs. We went to a specialist but did not do any further testing. My husband was very strongly against the amnio because of the small chance of miscarriage - we had lost a pregnancy a few months before and weren't taking any chances with this one. I didn't feel that specialist did anything much more than sonograms. We went until I was 7 months along and then decided to cancel any more appointments with the specialist and just go to our regular obgyn appointment. The baby measured correctly throughout the entire pregnancy and they could not detect any abnormalities. I did so much research on having children with downs and did my best to prepare myself. Well - I gave birth Oct 8th to a very healthy little boy - no downs. He will be 6 months in just a few days. I feel so lucky to have him and would not change anything about the pregnancy at all. My inlaws were upset with my ob for the "scare" of Downs - but I don't feel that way at all. I feel like I learned a lot and since we plan on having more children and I have a much deeper appreciation for all those mama's out there with special needs children. Good luck to you and your baby boy on the way!
Awww congrats!! I just wanted to share with you that a girlfriend of mines was "adviced" she should terminate her pregnancy because her baby was tiny and tested positive for DS amongst other abnormalities. She refused and had a small baby yes, he was 4lb something but he was perfectly healthy! I was disgusted that anyone would advise her to terminate, and she is so happy that she listened to her instincts that he was fine, he's 7 now :)
That is great news! congratulations!!
FYI...was your last test a blood test? If so, your baby did not test positive for Down Syndrome. Those test only show that your baby might be at an increased risk for DS. Only an amniocentesis or CVS testing show positive or negative. Additionally, that blood test is notoriously inaccurate.
Congrats on your baby boy!!!! Great news!
Great! So glad he looks good.
Congratulations on a boy! Love those little boys!

woohoo! So glad to hear the good news. Most of the screens are "false positives" and I am happy to hear that your follow-up confirmed it.
