Okay so, I delivered a very healthy baby boy in june, and it is now march, so 9 months ago. two months post partum I took the depo shot, and chose not to take it ever again. that shot is only supposed to effect you for three months and it has been 7. I got my period for about 3-4 days on the sixth which was heavy and short, and I just started bleeding again and it is the 18th. there is exactly a week in between the end of my last "period" and the start of this one. So I'm really confused. Could I be having a MC? or Pregnant again? my husband was stupid enough to take the condom off and not tell me so I supposed I could be pregnant. Oh, I'm also breastfeeding. my supply has dropped and come back and dropped again a few times lately. and I gained some weight so I think it might have to do with the depo shot maybe.

What can I do next?

If you are still breast feeding you might not get your period for quite sometime and they can be crazy. Your hormones are not back to normal yet. The first one my not have been a real period just spotting. If you get any other simptoms you might call the dr. But for now I wouldn't worry too much about it.

I think your doctor would be the best person to ask about this.
Sometimes women will experience 'breakthrough bleeding' midcycle , using birth control or not. For women not on b.c., this can happen around the time of ovulation. That said, it's also somewhat common. I googled 'Depo Provera shot breakthrough bleeding" and found that quite a few threads popped up. You may want to peruse those and then decide if you want to stay on this form of bc or find a more suitable alternative.

I definitely think you should talk to your doctor about this.
Your wonky periods could be due to almost anything.

Please don't believe the myth that you can't get pregnant while breastfeeding. My uncle and dad were born so close together that they were raised as twins. I have a friend who had 3 kids born exactly one year apart. Right now, they are 4, 5, and 6 years old. They keep her so busy that her head could spin off most days.

If you're not ready for another baby, talk about birth control options.
I know women who took the depo shots and were very happy, but if it's not for you, discuss an alternative so you don't have to go through the constant worry.

Best wishes.

I agree with talking with your Gyno about this.

As far as the Depo shot is concerned I will NEVER take that again, or allow my daughter to get it. It made me gain a ton of weight! Boo!
