I finally had a TT after 2 years of wanting one. I am 2 weeks post-op but had a few questions for those who have been through this:

1: How long did you officially wear your compression band?
2: How long did it take before you moved from the recliner back to your bed? And any tips on getting out of bed once lying there?
3: How long before you were feeling back to normal?
4: Any tips for a good recovery welcome:)

TIA!!
PS: I also had muscle repair if that matters.

What can I do next?

Hi Sunny,

I had my tummy tuck two years ago this past May. I think I wore my compression band maybe a week or week and a half. I never had to sleep in a recliner, slept in my bed gingerly without too much sudden movement. Come to think of it, I think I remember wearing the compression band longer than the week at night but was fine without it in the day time because my clothes gave me enough support. Getting out of bed was tricky. I remember laying on my side, putting my legs over the side of the bed and pretty much using my arm to push me up off the bed into a sitting position and from there my legs did the rest. It really wasn't too bad two weeks out like you are.

It took many many months before I felt completely back to normal. Probably up to the first year mark I would have occasional mild discomfort with the incision scar (because it was a long one...hip bone to hip bone!). It took a long time for the scar to "flatten out" but it did eventually. The color lightened up tremendously but again, it did take quite a long time. You know of course, you will never be scar free but it beats the hell out of a saggy floppy thing hanging off your stomach. I had lost 82 lbs and just about every thing on my body had responded well except my lower tummy...it was gross. Anyway, I am two years in and have zero regrets. It was a lot of money but the confidence I gained was worth every single penny. Best wishes on your recovery!!! And good luck to Mandy on her upcoming surgery! :-)

Make sure to have enough snack food, water and books/cable to keep your mind and body full, Mandy.

I am so glad to hear about women taking their looks into consideration and not accepting flab and saggyness as a norm. No amount of new clothes, diamond rings or new living room sets can replace a good body--even if we gotta buy it!

I think you should follow the doc's orders to the T and even longer if needed. I know I've seen people who had a tummy tuck done using a walker months later just to help.

I was never in a recliner, in bed from day one.

I can't remember about the band - as long as the dr. said, I guess.

Getting out of bed wasn't hard after day 4.

Feeling pretty good after three weeks, when I could finally stand up straight. Bending over for three weeks was the hardest part. After that, it was all uphill, and not particularly difficult.
