Anyone Who Has Had a Mini Tummy Tuck

I've never been one to consider cosmetic surgery but after 3 children and all were c-sections, now I'm thinking about it. I am currently doing my research and considering my options. I am just concerned about the scar that is left from having a mini tummy tuck. Although I have not narrowed down doctors at this time, I'm just trying to find out as much info as possible. I've seen plenty of pictures of what a scar looks like for a full tummy tuck. It's a scar from hip to hip and honestly, if a doctor said that I would need a full tummy tuck and I'd be left with scar like that, I would count my blessings and bury the idea of ever considering a tummy tuck at all.

However, I am thin and I workout daily and all that I have found online would suggest that I could be an ideal candidate for a mini tummy tuck but I have yet to find any "after" pictures.

So, I'd like to hear from moms have had a mini tummy tuck. Having had 3 c-sections, I would assume the healing is much like that of a c-section and I would assume the pain is the same so those aspects of the surgery do not so much concern me as what the scar looks like. My c-section scar is a bikini cut and my youngest is 25 months and already the scar has faded quite a bit. Is a mini tummy tuck scar as low and as short as a bikini cut c-section scar?
Your responses will be very helpful.

T., If you feel like you need one, go for it. I had breast Implants in April and I love my new breasts (they were orgiginally small then got smaller after breast feeding 2 children), I feel better about my body and sexsier... A mother's body goes thru lot and lot of change if there is a way to improve what motherhood has done to your body, why wouldn't you use it.

Yes, Love your body the way it is but improving your look is never wrong.

I suggest you schedule a consultation with a plastic surgeon, this way you know what you need done and you can start your research from there.

Good luck

Just to let you know that I had a full tummy tuck and a year afterwards the scar is so faded you hardly see it. It goes from hip to hip - with NO dog ears - you just have to ask your Dr for it that way. A mini is only for a pooch/skin that is above the belly button and a full takes care of the whole stomach. If you get a mini don't be diappointed in seeing results in one area. My scar is so faded that no one sees it and many bathing suits cover that very faint line. I wear 2 pieces and a bottom that is thicker on the sides covers it....good luck!

Hi, I've seen the scars from a mini tummy tuck. Not so bad depending on how large your incision is from the c-section. If you do a google search on mini tummy tuck before and after photos (use your own terminology)literally thousands of photos and sites show up. I say go for it! I know exactly how you feel. Don't let anyone tell you your vain or whatever else people want to say. It's YOUR body! If you do it let us know how it went.

I haven't had one but I have a friend that had one and it turned out great. The physician used the same site as the c-section and so the scar was no different then the one she had. Good luck!

T.,

I'm also considering a mini tummy tuck but haven't started doing the research yet. I've had 2 c-sections and lost the weight really fast. My scar is almost gone as well and I'm very thin. I run 45 miles a week and can't wear a bikini because my stomach looks like that of a 90 year old... I know - there could be so much worse to worry about but I'd really like to hear what people have to say. Let me know if you find anything.. ____@____.com

Last week I under went a mini tummy tuck procedure and breast augumentation.....mommy makeover. Very pleased with results thus far even though still swollen a tad. The scar as of right now is very similiar to the c-section scars I had with both children that btw faded to almost nothing. I will send pics when a little more healed but very happy I took this route. I do want to mention PS was very honest with me that the mini would not be an all out stretch mark cure. However most are gone and i can't wait to wear a bikini with no pouch attached and flappy mommy boobs. LOL

I haven't had one but am in the same situation like you. I asked a friend who was a plastic surgeon and he said the biggest problem with a mini-tuck was that the sides of the incision could "dog ear" meaning droop down if that skin was not removed. Nobody really does that kind of mini tuck which is why you may have problems finding photos. He said the recovery is the same anyway. You can have a tummy tuck that does not address the issues of your abdominal muscles and does skin only that has a shorter recovery time. The scar from a tummy tuck will almost virtually disappear in time and Mederma during the healing process or lasers or microdermadrasion can make it almost invisible. Your scar will depend a lot on your skin type but if your c=section scar is almost gone then your tummy tuck scar will heal a whole lot better then that one. Best of luck with whatever you decide.

T.,

I recently had a mini tummy tuck or mini abdominoplasty as the doctors call them. When I say recently I mean August 4 of this year. The scar is at the top of the hair line, so it sits just below the bikini line, which is very nice. It does not go from hip to hip. I am fairly thin myself. I have had 3 boys and worked out forever but once you have stretched that skin so much there is only so much working out you can do. This is the second procedure I have had done with my plastic surgeon. He is board certified and credited. He is amazing. After the surgery you have a drain in for a week. And depending on how fast you heal you can be sore for another week to two weeks. Of course you won't be able to lift anything until the doctor sees you at your 4 week post-op visit and give you the go ahead or not. I was released full release at 4 weeks, I heal very quickly and felt great at about 2 1/2 weeks. My surgeon has done breast augmentation on me back in 2000 and of course the tummy tuck now in 2008 and I would definitely do it all over again. If you would like more information you can email me privately at ____@____.com and I would be happy to give you more information. I would be happy to give you his information if you would like.

Good luck and let me know!
