My trainer is awesome and he comes to my house - email me if you want his info- ____@____.com
I've been pregnant 8 times. How can I get my stomach somewhat toned up? I'm a stay at home mom with 2 special needs children so can't get out to the gym. I do have a treadmill and exercise ball here at the house.
I want to say thanks to everyone who sent me great advice. Know that I am working on this immediately. I am very determined to get toned up for the summer and enjoy the pool with the kids. Thanks again.

Hey J.-
If you just google flattin tummy- you'll get alot of exercises to flattin your tummy. The exercise ball is actually the best method and you will see results quicker. You just have to keep at it every day. If you lay on the ground and put the ball in between your feet, then raise your legs with the ball in the same position up to a 90 degree angle, and do that 25 times, over and over again, you will lose the lower part of your tummy. Which is the toughest to lose. Try that.
J.,
I have been pregnant 4 times and my last was only 10 months ago. I have been doing lots of cardio (on the treadmill) and abs. Something I also do is the Winsor Pilates, it is great for toning and works wonders for your ab muscles. I have went from a sz 10 to a sz 5 in 2 months. I know it takes time to get toned as that is something that I am still working with, but with determination and time it will happen.
Good luck and best wishes with everything!!
J., I don't know what your finances are like but have you gotten the BEAN. Its a piece of exercise equipment that is suppose to help in that area. I don't have one but have heard others say it works great. I think you can get it out at Walmart for about $50. Maybe its worth a shot. That and make up your own low carb diet. I know when I need to lose a few lbs. that is what I do. I drink lots of water, go for walks, aka your treadmill, and cut out potatoes. It seems to help me. Give it a try and see what happens.
Dear J. God bless you. My goodness as uch as you have to do i would assume your tummy will tighten back up. Wirking with specia needs kids keeps you o your toes i bet. 8times, wow,hey i bet your tummy looks better than mine does now. Love your inside , do what you can and have tiem for and just love yourself. Give yourself a break, you have your hands full. i kow i have heard working with the balls helps. I know nothing works any better the leg lifts. lay down bring you legs up slow and hold them to the count of ten, you will feel it pull. i would start with 10 they REALly work more than any exercise i have done, you will see size change. while i am giving you advise i shoud be down doing them myself. Great jog though It is great you still are caring i woud be throwing my hands up. kutto's to you girl. hang in ther, id you have time do ten leg lifts a day and see what a diffenence a month makes. God Bless you sweetheat, hohnnie, you are in my prayers.
I have 4 kids preggo with number 5 I did the tupler technique and after kids were born I used a "girdle" for about 6 weeks to retrain myself to stand up straight and hold my muscles together, people cannot beleive that I have had 4 kids, my tummy is not bikini ready but it holds up well in a pair of jeans! I checked the book out at the library and it is really life changing, focuses on keeping muscles tight and how crunches are really bad and make it worse! Also just sit on the ball while watching tv, at computer etc, that helps too!!!
just 20mins a night and 20mins during the morring of doing sit up on your exercise ball will help that. Then ever other day do 20 mins of running on you'r treadmill. It does not seem like a lot. But it will help.
Sounds weird, but here is what works for me...
Take a gallon jug. Start by filling it with water. When filled it will be about seven pounds. Sit on the floor with your back straight and your feet flat on the floor and knees bent. Lean back slightly so your feet come off the floor and you are balancing on your heinie. (It takes a bit of practice.) Hold the jug of water in front of you with both hands. Alternating sides, touch the jug to the ground. Do it about 20 times, 10 on each side. Rest. Do it a few more times.
SOunds complicated, but it really works. Be ready to feel muscles you haven't for a while!
I have used a ball before and what worked for me was crunches on it. I did them forward, and then side to side. I also will lay on my tummy on the ball(feet on the floor), put my hands behind my head, and lift the top half of my body up and down. I like to change so I also have used Blly Blanks taebo and Windsor PILATES have really helped me recently. Now I say that you also have to understand that with stretch marks that means that skin will not go away. but I can really tell a difference. If you don't have the video, look for a infomercial and then copy those exercises that you see. I am sure that any pilates will work, I just happen to have Windsor. (My kids enjoy trying to do them as well....)
When you walk on the treadmill, be sure to tighten your tummy and buns, breathe in through your nose and out through your nose (it requires more tummy muscles). Whatever you try, be consistant for at least 3 weeks before you change. This will give you a better idea of how it is working for you.
With your busy life I would also recommend stretching and calming yourself for at least 10 minutes a day. Stress can add weight to your midsection.
A vitamin B supplement can also add to your energy level and a better overall feeling (check with yr Dr first).
I also recommend eating 5 small healthy meals a day rather than 3.
God bless!!!
You have two good things to use as for the tummy but you may also look into some yoga/arobic tapes/dvds at your local Wal- Mart of fitness place. Crunches & sit-ups are good too.We have a Cell-u-Shape product (through Mary Kay) that women are going crazy about. It's a two part syytem that you use day & night, you put it on the target area's that you want to firm up & use it continuosly. You should see results in as little as four weeks. We tell people to take pictures of the area(s) they want to target so you can see the difference yourself. It firms & help with cellulite. You are already a trooper & I know that man loves you JUST the way you are. I wish you the best of luck & God Bless!
Here are some ideas...
Move your treadmill to a common area so you can hang out with the kids while exercising. Buy free weights to use while walking. There are lots of things you can do with the weights like overheard presses, arm raises, biceps curls, etc. I like Denise Austin dvd's. The kids can play along or just watch you. Get outside with the kids & walk with them. Maybe invest in a cart for behind a bike or a large stroller. Not sure on your limitations with the kids, but I hope some of these ideas help.
In a word, Pilates. It saved me-and my back. Plus, I now have some good looking abs! Pilates is good for the core (abs, obliques, and lower back) and you don't have to get to the gym-get a resistance band (rubber band with handles)and you can do almost any exercise you can do in the gym (and being a female, and I'm guessing not a bodybuilder, you don't need heavier weights or more resistance) I'd start with basic pilates dvd's you can get at Barnes & Nobles. Of course, exercising is almost worthless unless you're eating well.
Hi J.,
As far as toning your tummy I use a stability ball and get ideas from exercise videos. I have been working out in a gym for about 10 years now and have done a couple of figure shows. It is really all about the diet and doing abs for about 10 minutes 5 times a week.
I crave sweets around midday and make myself a protein shake to stay away from bad carbs.

What are the 2 children's special needs? I may be able to help you with that.
If you need to relax, lie on the floor and put your feet and legs up on a chair (bent at the knees) Set your timer before you start for 15 minutes and just relax. This helps the adrenal glands. (It will not tone your muscles)
I've always found that walking helps. Concentrate on pusture and holding your tummy in and pump your arms as if you are running. Of course this is hard if you have lots of children. Can you put some in a stroller or can you go early in the morning?
I will never call myself a parent any more, I only have one child, but to get back in tone when she was little I used lay on my back and put her on my legs under my knees on her belly and then I would hold her little hands and lift my legs up and down.
She loved it and I loved what it was doing for me, and we still got our mommy time together. I wanna say I started that when she was like just starting to walk, and did it til she got way too heavy for me. She is nine now.
Another idea is to put your feet under your couch with your knees bent and do alot of crunches. The couch keeps your feet stable and the crunches are less harmful to your back.
Good luck
