Tubal Ligation - Huntington Beach,CA

I have Mirena, but am not happy with it. Thinking of getting tubal ligation. The good, the bad, the ugly??? My insurance covers it at 100%. Hubby is willing to get vasectomy, but just thinking logistically it will be easier for me to get the tubal.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Easier since I already have an ob/gyn and would just need to schedule. With vasectomy he would need to find an urologist, sceduke a consult(s), and have procedure. Which equals a lot of leaving work early.

How is it logistically easier for you to get a tubal? That's a major surgery.

For many of the same reasons, it was easier for me to have my tubal than my husband to have a vasectomy. Diane B pretty much covered what to expect. We are very happy with our decision, I have not had any problems or regrets.

I had a tubal ligation at 32 (35 years ago); the technique was still a fairly new development. The tubal itself would have been minor, except that I needed more extensive surgery to separate multiple adhesions from an earlier burst appendix. So I did have a few weeks until I felt fully recovered, but I never had a bit of trouble (and no failure) with the tubal. I understand failures are possible, and some women report other symptoms that they attribute to their tubals.

If only a tubal is needed, women used to go home the same day and back to work the next. I presume that's probably still the same. Not major for most women, but do talk it over with at least one doctor.

I liked the idea of being in control of my own fertility and not counting on a man to be safe. I've never regretted going this direction.

Wishing you a good choice with a perfect outcome!

Consider having the Essure procedure done. It's not surgery, well, out patient and it's done in a few minutes. Life is back to normal right then.

When my friend had it done she and hubby went out to eat sushi right afterwards. She had a few small moments of cramping but they weren't anything that bothered her much. She was working the next day.

Actually, hubby getting snipped is easier.

Your recovery will be 4 - 6 weeks of zero to light lifting. His recovery would be like 3 days.
