TTC And Menstual Cycles

Hi everyone. My husband and I have been TTC for a few months now. I have always had normal cycles, even after stopping my birth control 6 months ago. Two months ago I started at an expected time and ended a few days later. Two weeks later I started again. I blamed that for stress because we were moving with a lack of sleep and just fatigue! Two weeks after that one ended, I start again. I stopped the normal bleeding a few days ago, but am still spotting off and on which is going on close to a week and a half. My cycles have become extremely heavy the last 2 months, not normal for me at all. With all the extra cycles how do I know when I am ovulating? Am I even ovulating? I really wanted to go about this the "fun natural way", but now I am worried if this will be a reality?
Also, I do have a daughter from a previous relationship who is 7, and my husband and I became pregnant in 2008, but ended in miscarriage. I am turning 27 next month, my age shouldn't be a factor. How can I track my ovulation?

What can I do next?

I really recommend the book, "Taking Charge of Your Fertility." It is fat and intimidating, but there is a ton of amazing information about your body that you'll be so glad to know.

Tracking your period is actually not the best way to predict ovulation because it is based on when you ovulated LAST, and stress, etc. can influence when you ovulate NEXT. Watching your vaginal mucous and waking temperatures will help you much more as far as knowing when you are fertile.

When I turned about 28 years old, something happened hormonally. I had never had a child, and suddenly my once regular periods became unpredictable. I also started getting the "mask of pregnancy" when exposed to the sun. Not to mention that I suddenly became allergic to UVB rays-10 minutes in the summer sun would cause full blown sun poisoning. Your age could be factor, but it's more likely you are adjusting hormonally from being on BC. Since you are TTC, you might want to get a check up from the gyn, just to make sure all systems are a go. Take care!

You have to understand the level of confusion and stress your body was under with the BC in the first place, and give yourself some time to re-adjust. The birth control pill is classified as a known carcinogen. It is notorious for permanently affecting fertility, cycle regularity, hormone regularity, etc. If you are able to concieve after being on the pill, and many women are, it's very likely that you are just struggle to readjust, and that its' taking a while. As the previous poster answered, some steps in diet, sleep, etc, will help very much.

The other thing you need to know is HOW to chart your cycle, so that you can learn when you are fertile, what things are affecting your fertility, and stay off the chemical birth control later on so you live a long and healthy life. (as well as any potential children you might concieve.)

My suggestion to you would be to learn NFP. If you need any help with charting after looking at this website, don't hesitate to PM me.
Here is a home study course to learn NFP. It's super easy, and really rewarding.

Sleep with the lights off. If you have a street light outside your window get a dark thick curtain. That will take care of the light pollution. Eat organically grown hormone free meat. That'll remove unwanted hormones. And, lastly look to see if you have stringy mucous from your vagina. That is the signal you are ovulating.
