My husband and i are trying to concieve. The day of my last period was may 14 but i am not sure when to test. i found out with my daughter when i was about three weeks but they said that was luck. should i wait to test if i miss my period or should i test now? can a blood test be more accurate? Someone help.

What can I do next?

If you have the "average" 28 day cycle then you are just at or just past your fertile time if you follow the "rule" that your period starts 14 days after ovulation.

Fo all you know, you could have conceived while typing your question ;) Give it two weeks, if you can manage it, and test then. You will not have had enough time to build up pregnancy hormone if you have concieved at this point.

I also highly reccomend FertilityFriend.com. They have a lot of information and customizable tools for people who are trying to concieve, or who are trying not to concieve

Best of luck to you.

Blood test are the most accurate test for pregnancy. You generally ovulate at the mid-point of your cycle. The first day you start bleeding (or spotting) is Day 1 and the last day is the day before Day 1. If your cycle is 28 days you should ovulate around day 14, but it could be sooner or later than that...
My cycles averaged 25 days and I conceived on Day 8 of my cycle with my first. I was able to get a positive test on Day 22, which was 15 days after I conceived. If your cycle started on May 14 and you have a 28 day cycle, then you are just past mid-cycle and you should wait at least another 10 days before you try a pregnancy test. If your are not yet taking prenatal vitamins, then you should start.
Hang in there, I hope you have happy news soon :)

If your cycles are regular (28-30 days) you should count 14 days from the FIRST day of your period for the conception date and then 14-16 days after that is when you can test....

For you that would make the 10th-11th of May the first day of your last period.... and the 24th-25th would have been the date you've conceived....

That means the earliest date to test should be around the 7th or 8th of June.....

You could get a blood test done at around 10 days after conception, but I would wait until you expect your next period instead....

I know you probably can't wait....but you should try....saves you money on pregnancy test and saves you from disappointment if it comes out negative if you tested too early.....

Count 28-30 days from the FIRST day of your last period and if no period, it's OK to test. Testing too early may give you a false negative (say you aren't pregnant when you actually are). It takes about 10 days from conception for a test result either blood or urine to have enough pregnancy hormone (hcg) to give a positive test because the fertilized egg has to begin attaching to the wall of the uterus (implantation) for this hormone to begin to be manufactured in your body. PMS symptoms and early pregnancy symptoms are very similar and often unreliable. Best wishes as you wait. About 85% of couples will conceive in the first year of trying and there's about a 20-25% chance of conceiving in any given month. Please begin taking prenatal vitamins immediately if you haven't already and avoid alcohol and tobacco while ttc. This gives you the best chance of a healthy pregnancy. Hope this helps. Even when I was a few days late, a blood test came back inconclusive. It wasn't until I was about 5 weeks along that the tests came back positive, so I guess the baby didn't implant until later in my cycle. Try to wait if you can. I had 3 tests come back with very faint lines the week my period was due, the blood test, like I said, was inconclusive, and 5 days later, the tests were VERY positive!
If you can't wait, the Dollar Tree has tests for $1. I have found out about my last three pregnancies on these, when the expensive digital tests were wrong.
