Trying to Conceive After Mirena IUD Removal

I am trying to conceive my third child. I was able to get pregnant the first try with both of my girls. We are now on the second month of trying and I'm getting scared. I had my IUD removed the middle of January '08. The doctor said my hormone levels would be in check a few days after removal. Are there any moms out there that were able to conceive after removal, and how long did it take?

What can I do next?

Hi there,
I just had this same discussion with my OB last mo. at my annual. I also have the Mirena and LOVE it! However if I wanted to start trying to conceive next year, so how soon should I take it out? She said b/c of the progesterone levels that are continuously released from the IUD it could take a couple of months for your body to regulate a menstrual cycle again and start ovulating. So if you got it out in January I think this Spring will be your time. Just give it at least 3 months and give your OB a call if nothing happens after 6 mos. or sooner. Consider stress a factor too with your two little ones!
Best of luck!!

As far as I know, hormones can take several months to regulate after a change in birth control. Try to relax and be patient - dothing you can do will make it happen any faster than it will. Good luck, mama!

I got pregnant immediatley after I had my Mirena removed, so did a few of my friends. We ALL miscarried! Please wait until it has been out for 3 months, then try! I think you are lucky that you haven't gotten PG yet. Those hormones stay in your body for months afterwards.

The good news ~ I got pregnant on the first try, 3 months after my miscarry. I am now 6 months along and everything is fine. My sister got PG 2 months after Mierena removal and she just gave birtth to a perfect and healthy little boy.

Please be patient, it is much better to wait a little while rather than go through a miscarry at 12 weeks!

Good luck!

hello A.,
i may not have any answer to your question but i too am trying to have another baby after i had my iud taken out. my docter never mentioned anything about waiting awhile before trying to have another one, instead she tried telling me when the best time to try was, haha! it's been about 2 months after my iud was taken out, and i may be pregnant, but i have 2 weeks before my next period starts, so i guess i might have to wait until then to find out. I will keep you updated if you would like to let you know if i was able to conceive after the removal of my iud! Good luck with you and just relax and have fun making the baby!! lol

I think the advice you got so far is right on. I have been on the Copper IUD before; and it made me bleed all the time, and so I had to take it out- but now that I have reconciled my marriage, I have also had no luck since I pulled it out 2yrs ago. I wonder if stress, anxiety has anything to do with that as well??? Just try to relax and have fun, don't worry too much about actually making a baby during sex. It will happen when you least expect it. Good luck ~
