I suffered a miscarriage in October. In December I started what I thought was a period, it lasted a month and a half. Come to find out I had endometritis(not to be confused with endometriosis), infection in the lining of my uterus, I was given an antibiotic. It stopped on Jan 29th and I still have not started again, I have had negative pregnancy tests. So my question is could I be pregnant or am I not ovulating? Suggestions would be great?
(to those that already posted a response, I did call my obgyn and I was told to wait a couple of weeks before we did anything else)
I just wanted to say thank you to all that replied to my request, you all have been a great help. I do beleive my problem has solved itself, AF finally visited after 45 days and only lasted 5 days. Now all I have to do is keep my fingers crossed that I am back to normal. Thanks again for all of your responses and support!

You should go to the Dr. From what I understand on endometriosis that could be a side effect of it since I have heard it leaves scar tissue that could be why you are not menstrating. Either way you should go to the gyn and talk to him or her about what is going on.
Hope it all works out for you.

after my miscarriage it took about 6 months to ovulate again (I choose not to have a D&C - for health reasons). So, I know it's hard expecially when you are trying so hard and time is something you feel like you don't have a lot of but time is the only cure for this. The endometritis is going to make things go longer as well....(not sure why but it just does). Just keep working with your dr.

I also have endometriosis, and one thing it does cause is very irregular periods. I would go two or more months without a period sometimes. It also makes conceiving difficult. it took my husband and I almost five years to conceive. But I would still go to see a doctor about your period, just to make sure everything is all right, and the doctor can also give you more information on endometriosis.

I would do a pregnancy test. Since you haven't had a cycle since jan then that is more than enough time for the pregnancy hormone to be detected. There telling you to wait two weeks because if you were early in the pregnancy it could still show a neg. The two weeks is enough time for the hcg hormone to elevate and show a positive. If neg, contact your obgyn again, they can do a progesterone test( blood test) to check during a certain time in your cycle to see if it is high enough for pregnancy to occur. If it isn't high enough then when you do become pregnant miscarriage can occur. You can also do tempature charts to see if ovulation is occurring or ovulation Kits which are over-the-counter. Your obgyn can explain this all to you. Hope this helps.

I thought typically they treat endometreosis with lapraoscopy (sp?). It is my understanding that one of the problems with it sometimes is breakthrough bleeding or prolonged bleeding, etc. I would guess that your cycles are off because of that. If you are concerned about not ovulating have your doctor run a blood test to check your hormone levels to see if you are in fact ovulating. . good luck and i hope you get pg real soon.

I don't know if you are familiar with natural family planning, but I have used it in the past to help me not only keep from conceiving, but also know when I was ovulating so that I could conceive when I wanted to. If you google "natural family planning" there are a number of sites that come up that could explain it in more detail. When I did this, I focused on the cervical mucus and not on body temperature and it was very effective. This can help you figure out of you are ovulating or not. To explain it basically (and I hope you don't think this is too yucky), when your cervical mucus is heavy and stringy, like egg whites, you are working towards ovulation and this is the best time to try conceiving. The day when this mucus stops or decreases significantly means that you likely ovulated the day before. You will either start your period 11-16 days later or get a positive pregnancy test! Like I said, this is a pretty basic explanation, but if you want more details just google and look for a website explaining natural family planning. Sorry about your miscarriage--I know that it is a hard experience to have to go through, but somehow each baby you have after that seems to be that much more of a miracle.

I am an OB nurse and currently getting my master's in nursing. I know that it can take a while for a woman's body to get back into a normal cycle after miscarriage (it's different for every woman). I also know that the same holds true for endometritis. It sounds like your body may just still be in a recovery state after being hit with both at the same time. I know that if you go too long without a period, your OB should be able to prescribe you some progesterone which will elicit a period and then maybe your cycles will straighten out. Once that happens you could check your ovulation status with over the counter kits if you are still worried about that.

It sounds like you just need to wait a while & let nature take it's course. In your trying you may not be giving your body a chance to heal & recover...it will all happen in HIS time. Stay prayerful, good luck to you & God Bless!

Wow! I'm sorry to hear you are having such a hard time. I've been through two miscarriages, so I know how hard it can be.
Answer to your question... If after this long you are still not getting a positive pregnancy test, I would say it is very unlikely that you are pregnant. Those tests are usually pretty accurate at just a few weeks after conception and this far into it, they would definitely show a line if you are pregnant.
If you haven't had a period, you probably have not ovulated... or have only recently ovulated. Your period should always come 14 days after ovulation.
Have you called your doctor? If you are concerned, give him/her a call. That is what they are there for.
My guess is that your system needed a rest and after a few months, will be ovulating again.

These days it could be anything plus the fact that you are stressin over getting pregnant. Let me tell you to jus relax. no matter what is goin on around you, you must find time to relax and take advantage of the goodness surrounding you. then I promise things will line up and fall into place where your body is concernd. stress on the body plays a key factor in you physical and mental health. so in the next two weeks I pray you lax and kick back as much as possible and believe me...I know. Jesus is our healer and we can only create in peace. take care.

I haven't had endometriosis myself, but isn't it usually treated with hormones or eventually surgery? I found a site that may be helpful.
