Traveling with Two Year Old and Four Year Old - Stroller Help?

So my daughter is 37ish pounds and my son is about 30 I believe and we are going to be doing a lot of traveling in the next while (Japan, Europe, etc) and I am trying to figure out how to get them around. We are going to be walking a lot obviously, but almost all strollers are for under 30 to 35 lbs. We do have a double stroller that I have loved my daughter is just too big for it (her feet push the foot rest down into the wheels when she sits in). What should I do? I don't want to buy another really expensive stroller just for these trips so I was wondering if anyone has used an umbrella stroller for larger kids and not had it break? :) We could use those snaps to stick them together or keep them apart, whichever. I just don't want to be traveling and have the stroller we brought for my four year old break. What have you done when traveling with older kids?

What can I do next?

Have you heard of a sit and stand? Don't know if that would work for you.

My strollers have a 40 lb weight limit, even my umbrella stroller. It's Jeep brand instead of the cheapest ones you can buy. My middle son is 3 1/2 and weighs a whopping 43 lbs, but he still likes to ride in the stroller. He hasn't broken it yet!
I don't recommend a backpack! In security at the airport, you have to take it off and put it through the x ray, and then put it back on after you walk through. Talk about a MAJOR pain.

My mil had a double umbrella stroller that the big kids would park themselves in time and time again and it held up well.

I just did a trip out of state and bought two umbrella strollers and just stuck them together with those stick things you mentioned. Worked great. Cost me about $20 a stroller and like $15 for the attachments. Made traveling around a breeze.

Wear them, in a back-pack or an Ergo carrier (up to 5 years), or they walk with us. I'm just not willing to wrestle with a stroller through an international flight and then get stuck trying to enjoy a foreign city that just isn't stroller friendly.
Good job mommin'!

We have a double stroller (its a Jeep side by side) that we have used for all of our travel. It is pretty light and easy to use. My boys are 3 and 4, but I still strapped them in there the last time I flew with them by myself. They were fine.
You might check Craigslist in your area, or even post to Freecycle to see if anyone has one you can borrow.
I wish you lived in the area, you could use mine!
Safe travels.....
