My daughter is 2 years old and still sleeps in a crib. We have a pack n play, but the guidelines say 35 inches and 30 pounds, both of which she is over. We are planning several weekends away at family and friends' houses, none of who have a crib. Does anyone have any suggestions of what to get for my daughter to sleep in?
You can try the travel/ bed rail. I had one for botyh my boys once they moved into a regular bed, and I broght it with me when they slept out. Hope this helps
My daughter slept in her pack-n-play when she was clearly too big for it, so for the next overnight visit away we found this cot:

She was about 2 1/2 yrs when she used it for the first time and just loved it. Since she was still in a crib at home and had to call us to get out of her crib, we had her do the same thing in the cot (so she wouldn't be wandering around our friends' house). It folds up compactly and worked great. Highly recommended!
I would try an air mattress since it's soo low to the floor, if she ever fell off, she wouldnt get hurt and you can always put pillow and blankets around it

When my son Cooper was 20 months old, my husband & I took him to Nantucket & we limited ourselves on what to drag with us, so rather than use the pack 'n play, we took a child sized inflatable bed with the sides a bit raised, for him to sleep in and he loved it! I was a little nervous using it, but he really did just fine sleeping on it for the week. Good luck! Congrats on baby #2! What a blessing! Enjoy!

We have the air bed from One Step Ahead. It is a child size with raised sides so they can't fall out. It has been great and both of my kids have used it. I would look at the Aerobed one as the one from One Step Ahead is really difficult to deflate and the airpump has to charge for 8 hours before using.
A pack and play is fine. Don't sweat it. If you were
using it as a crib 24/7, I would say no, but for weekends
its fine.
If your daughter is active and/or a climber, then DON'T use the pack n play. My son is only 17 months, but is tall (34 inches). And he can knock it over, while inside it. Scared me half to death!

We're also considering one of those blow-up toddler mattresses, although he is still in a crib as well. Sometimes we just suck it up on trips, and let him fall asleep with us- then transfer him to a mattress on the floor. Not ideal, but way less stress.

One Step Ahead makes some toddler blow up matresses (low to floor). Walmart sells a Dora or a Princess couch-to-sleeper for $35 dollars (do site to store shipping if not in stock). When we were a little older my mom had us three kids on inexpensive pool rafts and a sleeping bag:-)
If you still need more confinement, try one of these with a baby gate around it to keep her from wandering. (my daughter would not sleep in a room with us much less a bed, she'd be up all nght!)

I actually used the Pack & Play past the weight requirements because my kids were just sleeping in it, not spending any other time in it.
i;d imagine when you're visiting someone while traveling with little kids you just get the child to sleep with you. it will be for a few days, fun times for your daughter and no need to buy/get anything extra.
Hi T., sometimes during travels we just made bed for our daughter on the floor, near our bed. I think you could find few more blankets and some extra bed sheets. It's very simple and usually fun for kids. It's also safe since the child can not fall down,so you can relax yourself as well. And If child needs to feel you near in a new place you can always give her your hand. Good luck, O.

Check out the Pea Pod Plus. It will hold a child up to 49 inches long. I bought this for my son when he was 1 1/2 - he is now 2 1/2 and 38 inches tall and we have used it so many times. When he was smaller I would zip it up and I knew he could not get out - like a crib. Now that he is a little older and is in a regular bed at home I leave it unzipped so he can get in and out on his own. He gets very excited to sleep in "his tent". From a travelling perspective this is one of the best products. It folds up so small and is so much easier than toting along a pack and play. Just blow up the mattress when you get to where you are going and the tent just pops up. I can't say enough about this product and plan to use mine until my son grows out of it. I bought it off the One Step Ahead website but I am sure you could find is somewhere else too. Here is the link to check it out.

One Step Ahead has some other travel beds that look pretty good too but the only one that zipped was the pea pod plus - if he had been older and I wasn't worried about him getting out I would have considered the "Tuck me in Travel Bed" this one:

Hi, I also have a pack and play. My youngest is 2 1/2 and is still in a crib and still sleeps in the portable one when we go away. She may be a little long for it but not too long that she doesnt fit at all, and she sleeps great it in it.
I wouldnt worry about it, with her favorite blankets and baby or stuffed animal, you shouldnt have a problem.
