Anyone used Costco for transferring film to DVD? My family has a lot of old film from when I was child (36 years ago) all the way back to when my own father was a child (65+ years ago) and we want to transfer them to DVD. I'm a bit nervous about handing over the reels and was hoping someone could relieve my anxiety. :)
If you've done this through an avenue other than Costco and were pleased, I'd love to hear about that too.

Nearly a year later and I finally got the nerve to send off the reels. We used Costco and couldn't be happier with the result. The videos are so clear especially considering that some of the reels were 70 years old. I've already heard from family members with which I shared the online videos (part of trial offer from the company that creates the DVDs) and everyone is so excited to have this piece of our history.

My mom just had films from her childhood transferred into DVD's at Costco! We just watched the dvds a couple days ago & they turned out really good! They return all the films back to you too! Hope that helps!
I have used walgreens. They can put 2-3 8mm tapes on one dvd. I was pleased, it cost about $25 per dvd but its been almost 6 yrs since I have done it..
I have reels that I want transferred as well and also feel sketchy about handing them over. I'll be interested in your responses. I didnt even know Costco did it, if they do doesnt walmart and other places do it as well?
I just looked into this not too long ago and trust Costco. They said at my location in AZ that in 7 years they never had a problem with messing up or loosing tapes. I am nervous too.......but more nervous that I will not get a chance to use the old technology at some point.

They are best in business. I had them do tons of video and over 5000 old photographs with superb results. I highly recommend them!

I did this probably 10-12 years ago through Wolf camera. It was not cheap, but well worth it. Plan for it to take a while since it is quite a process. They did a great job and I felt very comfortable leaving the reels with them. I am not sure if they offer the service anyomore, but certainly worth getting a quote from them if they do. Costco may end up cheaper, but always good to compare.
