8MM Movies to CD

I have a bunch of 8MM movies of my grandkids when they were small. Do you know anyone that will take these and put them on CD at a resonable price? The other problem is, that none of them are date marked and there is a lot of blank tape between movies. I was the worst at taking out a tape to make sure that I didn't tape over something, then putting the tape back in a year later... Thanks for any help

What can I do next?

I used http://www.ueditvideo.com/ in Richardson (75/Arapaho) to transfer 8mm reels of film to DVD. They have some pricing on their website
http://www.ueditvideo.com/site2009/conversions_transfers.... (check other pages too if this is not what you are looking for). You can also call them and talk to them about what you have and what you are looking for. It can take 2-3 weeks for them to have your product available.

I do not have experience with them, but I found their website while looking for something like this for mom mom.

They advertise $9.99 will edit, etc. They will do VHS, Super 8, 8MM, etc. Good luck!

Hello,

Costco does offer this service, we got it done for my dad last Father's Day. It was great to see what was on each tape since the tapes were from over 20 years ago. They don't edit them though but it's still a nice way to share memories!

By the way, ours came out great and he loved them!

It sounds like what you have are Super 8MM videos, not movies (that is, not film). If that is the case, you may be able to transfer them to DVD yourself if you have a PC with software that converts analog (tape) to digital (DVD).

Costco advertises such a service, too. Not sure if they edit to eliminate spaces.

We did ours at http://www.gotmemories.com , they charged $4.99 a tape, great job, friendly and saved us a ton of money over some of the other quotes we got. We looked at buying equipment at doing it ourselves, but 30 tapes was like $150, a DVD recorder was $130, no brainer.

I was recently at Costco and they have a service that does this. We are looking into it ourselves. It didn't appear to be overly pricey.
