I'd love to transfer old family memories from 8mm film to DVD. Does anyone have a suggestion of a reputable company to work with? It would be great to have a recommendation before sending off all of these reels in the mail! Thank you!

What can I do next?

My Mother went to Walgreens to have our old film transfered to a DVD and they did a good job. We had a lot of them and they were able to transfer them all.

Google "video editing services" and your geographic area. I can't recommend any as I'm not in your area. We used to use a place called The Video Editor but it's closed -- a victim of folks just not needing these services as much or doing it themselves thanks to computers. But what you want is a video editor.

I would never send the reels in the mail anywhere nor would I let a shop send the reels away for processing. I'd ensure that I found a place that does it in-house AT the shop, and does not send it off somewhere else. Being in the NY area, surely you'll find a place that does it in-house. Good luck.

Isn't there a local one? I would personally feel nervous trusting something so precious to the mail. If you do, I think you should use UPS or Fedex.
