I know this my shock some but I had my tonsils out at 5. When I got home that night my mother made spaghatti and meatballs and I ate them. They did not bother me. My Mother didn't want to give them to me but I insisted. I think she gave them to me to teach me a lesson but I clearly won.

I would try chicken noodle soup. Jello is cool and refreshing. Sherbet is good too. I hope he feels better soon.

From what I remember, my son lived on lukewarm chicken broth and macaroni and cheese. Popsicles were too cold for him.

Hope your guy feels better soon.

He can lay down although an extra pillow to prop him up slightly might be good.
Sleeping is fine but I'd make sure he stays on schedule with his pain meds.
Any liquid is fine (although carbonated or acidic juices are not a good idea) - water, tea, apple juice, soup broth, warm jello.
For soft foods: jello, pudding, if he doesn't want popsicles ice cream is a favorite of many.
In a day or so scrambled or soft boiled eggs will be good.
You can ask your doctor - they should have given you info about recovery and what to expect.

Let him eat and drink what he wants. Some kids just never miss a beat. If he is dri king well during day, do not wake him. Need sleep to heal.

my daughter just had her's taken out on Monday. She was also very hungry. She has been eating ice cream like crazy! She also likes mashed potatoes and pudding. She doesn't really care for the popsicles too much because they kind of sting her throat. She has also liked yogurt and boiled eggs (everything cold). Yesterday we had a very rough day. She had been doing great up until then. She ended up throwing up a lot twice and she wasn't able to eat anything all day. She also had a severe stomach ache and almost ended up at the ER. It was so bad she couldn't even take her pain meds. Finally last night she ate some plain rice and then asked for an avacado, lol. She ate a few bites and then was able to just take regular tylenol. This morning she is eating some mac n cheese.

When I would wake up my daughter in the middle of the night to take her pain meds, she would also drink some water at that time. I've been giving her ice water so it's nice and cold and she takes a sip about every 20 minutes or so. I've been so worried about her getting dehyrdrated, so I'm really pushing her to drink water.

Yes it's ok for him to lay down. He probably wants to sleep. We are on day 5 and I still don't quite see a light at the end of the tunnel, but they say with in 2 weeks of surgery they should be back to normal.

Broth
Normal liquid - you do NOT want him to get dehydrated - you WANT him to use his throat. If he doesn't get it going - it will take longer to heal.

Yogurt
Mashed potatoes
Jell-O
scrambled eggs with cheese

he can eat whatever he wants to be honest - he can decide what hurts. The longer you "baby" him and such - the longer the process will be. I know that sounds cold, but it's matter of fact, the faster you get your throat to working like usual/normal - the faster you recover....and attitude...attitude is EVERYTHING!! If you keep positive and stress the good things that will come from this - positive attitude kicks butt in healing process!!

Yes, it's okay for him to lay down. He does not have anything impeding his breathing - correct? No gauze up the nose, right? BE NORMAL! ACT NORMAL!

Sleep is good for healing as well. Gives the body a chance to recuperate as well.

Cannot stress enough the fluid intake!! Keep that going! You do NOT want him to dehydrate!
