I used a pumis (spelling???) stone on mine. You just have to be very careful not to rub really hard or it will scratch the toilet. It works wonders! Good luck!
HI Moms, I just moved into a rental home for the time being and the toilets all have those gross black stains around the rims. The owner hired cleaners to clean (they didn't do such a great job obviously) and now I can't get them clean enough and they look gross! Any tips on getting these toilets white again????
You mom's (and dads!) are awesome! Thanks for the tips! Our ex's have the kids this weekend so between squeezing in a couple of movies, we are going to be unpacking and cleaning! I will let you know what worked! I'm also going ot post a question about my floors since I got such a good response on my toilets!!!!

I love kaboom for cleaning buildup and stains. You might turn off the water supply and flush to empty the toilet and make it briefly off limits so whatever cleaner you use will have a chance to soak.
My husband uses 400 grit wet dry sandpaper and comet with water in the bowl. Water level below the ring and lightly sanding on a glazed bowl. If its not a glazed bowl don't use the sand paper.
I know just the thing. It's called the Pumice Scouring Bar. It is exactly for the kinds of stains you are referring to. It can make any toilet sparkling white again. You can probably find it at any major grocery store or Walgreens, or one of the Home Centers. It's never let me down. Good luck. I hope your toilets sparkle.
I would try scrubbing them with a pumice stone. That may help. Crazy enough you could also throw some Tang in the toilet over night and let the citric acid eat away at it. I saw that on the Queen of Clean.
Soft Scrub with bleach may help. Just be careful not to let it splatter when you're scrubbing-- I got it all over my shower curtain and now have bleach stains on it. You also have to rinse it well afterwards. A product like CLR (for removing Calcium, Lime, and Rust) may also be good for removing stuff like that. Good luck!
"POP-POP-FIZZ-FIZZ- What a relief it is!" LOL Use Polident or whatever brand of the fizz tablets to soak dentures- a.k.a. your toilets -OR- shut the water off so the water goes down & sprinkle borax & leave for hours & scrub & flush.HTHIA =)
My husband used a pumice stone (for feet) on our toilets and it worked great! Good luck.
I just did theame thing. I bought a pumice stone from the pool supply store. You can probably get one any where. It was really easy to get rid of that hard water deposit, stains and such.
Enjoy cleaning your pot! *grin*

Hi F.,
I have always used a piece of screen to get the tough stains off the toilet. It can get into the tiniest of spaces and does not get soggy like sand paper. My mom used to clean houses and taught me this trick many years ago. I love it because I always have sparkling toilets.
