Toddler with Broken Leg in Hospital--what to Get Him for a Gift

Lego's...there are Duplo for his age. Coloring or painting stuff would work. He needs something for sitting up not running around. Cars woiuld go vroom on the tray and crash to floor...no good unless he has someone to play with who can get them. A musical toy...like a piano. *with volume control*. Or even his first computer learning toy...there are several out there to look at.
Don't forget mom and dad. They could use something to enjoy...soda, coffee, food, a toy they can play with too *play doh, painting* *cars for dad* hehe.

I know we were in an out of hospitals with my oldest due to Febrile Seizures. You could do a goody bag with misc items. Fill it with a couple of cars, coloring book with crayons, a couple of books, play doh, army men etc. You could also get him a cute puppy dog stuffed animal and make him a cast out of athletic tape. Be sure to triple wrap the dogs leg and you could bring a marker for him to draw on the dogs leg. Some rooms have DVD players in them. You could find out and bring him a movie that he likes or one he wanted.

I would suggest the magnadoodle or aquadoodle. There also one that some one gave my son that is elmo and cookie monster and when you erase it, it will make elmo and cookie monster talk. Very entertaining! My 2 year old just got a 25 piece puzzle for his b-day and it has been enjoyable teaching him to sit still and learn how to put the puzzle together with us.

A maganadoodle or aquadoodle. I think they make travel-sized versions that he could play with.
Color Wonder markers and paper might also be a good idea.
Find out if his room has a DVD player or VCR and you could get him a new video.
Their biggest challenge will be keeping him still, so the video might help with that.

I would think coloring books and crayons or a stuffed animal or a movie he can watch when he gets home. He obviously will need something that he can sit and do. Maybe even his favorite snack would cheer him up...Poor kid.

As a pediatric nurse some of the nicest things that I have seen given to patients are art projects- washable paint etc, a new movie, special snacks or bring in favorite fast foods...hope this helps....don't forget the parents who are stuck and would probably love a used book, fresh fruit or some granola bars...it gets expensive eating in a hospital and some parents hate to leave the bedside of their child even for a few minutes.

I agree with Brandi. Get him some markers for his new cast, to draw hisown master piece!!!!!!

We were just in the Hospital over night with my 2 1/2 year old (he had his tonsils out). I brought coloring books, hot wheels, Play Dough and of course his favorite action figures. He liked to Play Dough the best. A Doodle Pro is great idea too. Also bring some snacks or lunch and drinks for the parents, they will need it.
