Try UMDNJ in Newark or St. Josephs in Paterson. My children were both in the St.Joseph's NICU and we have seen an excellent pediartic ENT at UMDNJ. If they don't do out patient blood work maybe they can recommend a place they work with often.
Hi,
My toddler needs to have bloodwork done. He's been having sporadic fevers since November with no known cause. Over the past 1-2 months we've taken him to 3 different labs a total of 5 times! During the appt he works himself up into an extreme screaming/fighting episode...so much so that they are unable to draw his blood. We leave the place feeling so exhausted and completely overwhelmed.
Does anyone know of an excellent labcorp that specializes in Pediatric testing in the Northern NJ area? Please share your experiences.

You may try connecting with your doctor or local hospital setting. They may be better able to direct you. I know LabCorp. does testing but they usually have tons of people waiting and the wait is unpleasant even for an adult let alone a toddler.
.
Can you have it done at the children's hospital in Morristown? I love that place with all my heart!!!
I dont have any suggestions for you as far as a lab goes (sorry)..but I just wanted to say that I know how you are probably feeling right now about the fevers. My son is 2.5 and he has been having sporadic fevers since he was 4 months old. We went through the testing and all that. I know it is ROUGH. They hate it and we hate the fact that we cant go through it for them! Unfortunetly, we have yet to get a diagnosis. He had fevers with no other symptoms for almost 2 yrs. For the last 6 months though, he has been getting the fever & tonsilitis together about every month. So, we are taking him to an ENT doc soon, like our doc suggested. Hoping that if he gets his tonsils out, it will take the fevers away too. Look into PFAPA or Hyper-Immunoglobin D Syndrome (HIDS). They are hard to diagnose, and no actual testing for it...but I feel that one of those is what my son is dealing with.
Good Luck to you and your little guy! *HUGS*
Is there a children's hospital near you? It makes a big difference when they just deal with children. When I take my youngest for his yearly lab work he sits in-between my legs and I use them to help hold him i give him a really tight bear hug with one of his arms in the hold one tech holds the arm they are using while the other does the draw and they do it through all the screaming and kicking yelling, etc as soon as it's done he's fine. I'm not one for bribing but he needs it done have you tried to tell him he can get some type of treat if he behaves? Tell him he can make as much of a fuss as he wants while they do it but he needs to have it done and it's much easier if he sits and cooperates.
I had the same problem with my son. It was a special situation however you can always call them. Saint Joseph's Hospital in Newark did it in 2 minutes. They specialize in pediatric care. I would give them a call. :)
I hope you find answers soon and the blood draw isn't a complete nightmare!
The wait at Labcorp seems ridiculous....and I took my son to the one in Clifton. The staff was okay...but the wait was LONG.
I've recently been to BioReference for myself. They are supposed to do pediatrics as well and I've found the wait MUCH less. If my 2 year old had to have more bloodwork I would try them out. They take most insurances and I was surprised to learn that we could go here INSTEAD of lapcorp!
I just found my brochure....
