I'm late but I use mixed chicks on my daughters hair (and mine). It has a slight hold to it but doesn't make the hair crunchy. I usually mix herbal essence hydrate? condition and water and spray her hair down first then apply the mixed chicks.
My little girl is 15 months old. Her hair is almost to her shoulders and really thick. It's really curly in the back when it's wet, but when it dries, it turns into funky waves that aren't really curly or straight. Is there a good, safe gel or spray I could use to help her curls keep? Most days I just put her in pigtails, so it doesn't matter, but I'm curious to see if I could get the little ringlets to stay when it's dry!! Thank you!!

I use Chi Silk infusion on my 3 year olds hair. It is Beautiful and smells nice. its pricey but thats what I use too so We share :)
Just a tiny bit and scrunch the curls.
I know for myself I use the tresemme flawless curls line of products. The shampoo and conditioner, curl hydration lotion creme and mousse. And I love it. I have struggled for years to find something that will keep my curls defined but not stiff, or frizzy, like what happens with soo many different mousses and gels and sprays. I reeaallly like this line of products for my curly hair. Although, there are some other things you'll need to do, it's not all about the product. Try not to brush her hair when it's wet, and touch it as little as possible. Or at least get a spray bottle so you can soak her curls again to bring them back to life. Try not to style her hair when it's dry, as it can just cause the curls to frizz. Hope this helps, natural curls can be very challenging to get looking right.
I have been using Catwalk curl cream for our daughter and so far I like it. The hair stylest we went to said try to stick with a curl "cream" that way her hair doesn't look like she has lots of stuff in it.
my niece's hair is the same way but blond. I'm sure brushing it is as hard as it is with her! . She is 7 now and is now understanding that she has to tough it out for the rest of her life. The mean girls call her a lion because it sadly does look like a mane. Does your daughter's hair get really frizzy? If so and you are able to control it, what product do you use?
We haven't found anything that keeps it ringlet curly, but I great product that I love for my hair (very wavy curls) is Sunsilk Culy hair leave in conditioner in the purple bottle. You can find it at walmart for under $5. I can't remember the price, but wasn't expensive at all. It acts almost like a gel, but not stiff. Left if very bouncy and manageable.
My daughter has very curly hair. I use the Little Sprouts line for her hair - it works well and smells great!
I'm going to look up the Sprout line, that sounds great! If you don't like that, I use Paul Mitchell 'Round Trip'. It's so lightweight, you won't even notice it in, and it won't be sticky or hard to wash out. Lucky to have a little one with curly hair- my poor kid got my piano wire hair!!
You might try the hair products by Original Sprout. She has a complete line of hair care and styling products for kids. It's free of anythign ahrmful we know of and free of anythign people may think is harmful too! I have had excellent results with these products.
Good luck!
Original sprout can be found online, but also Sunflower Market carried the entire line locally in Colorado.
We use a product called Curly Q that we got at a local salon. I use the chi product someone else mentioned and love that too!
any spray or gel is fine. But if you're REALLY concerned about chemicals, always go for the natural-food stores' products like Burt's Bees etc. ;)
Make your own kiddie rollers. Use craft foam cut in strips and twist her hair in little chunks around it. Hold it at the ends with little hair bands, clips, whatever she won't take out. Let it dry, and see if it stays on it's own. If not for long, next time run just a little curling gel or mouse through first. I have curly hair that can get dry, sun damaged, and is breakage prone, and I like the Herbal Essences Totally Twisted mouse and gel. They're gentle enough for me, yet strong enough to hold and look natural.
