Wondering if anyone has any suggestions for toddler friendly parks in the south bay area of Los Angeles (hermosa, manhattan, torrance, redondo). I have a 14 month old who walks well and has just started running and doing a little bit of climbing. We've checked out the tot lot in Manhattan Beach which is great. Wondering if anyone else knows of any good parks for the really little ones. Thanks!

What can I do next?

I find the best park for little guys is South Park in Hermosa. It's off of Valley Drive right around 6th street. There is only one tiny play area with swings and a train, however the surrounding area is covered with grass for running around when you are just getting your sea legs...
I find the tot lot in manhattan a little too crazy. Valley park is fun but if there are older children there they are always running over the little guys (the same -actually worse--- at Polliwog park).... Fort Lots of Fun off of Prospect is good because it's never that crowded, however it is meant for children older. My son has fallen several times off the structure because the gaps are so high between levels... we've had alot of bloody faces at fort lots of fun....
South park isn't for everyone if you are looking for lots of structures... it's pretty quiet though and very easy for a little one to just hop around without getting trampled on. Great for tricycles and ride on toys...Just bring some sand toys and you are good to go!

Polliwog Park in Manhattan Beach has both a newer play area and an older play area down by the pond. I find the older play area is well suited for little ones. The newer play area tends to have older kids running around.

In addition to the parks named below, try Valley Park in Hermosa (corner of Vallley and Gould), Marine Park in Manhattan Beach (on north side of Marine, east a few blocks from Sepulveda), Sand Dune park in MB (on Bell, near Rosecrans).

Fort Lots of Fun on 6th Street and Prospect in Hermosa
Also Sea View Park right next to the Hermosa View school around 17th and Prospect
Both are small contained areas - FLOF has a play structure that is only a few years old -new. Sea View has sand and water play esp nice in summer. Both are cooler - FLOF has an ocean view and is shady - good for a hot day.
