Toddler Clothing

Is it me or did clothing stores skip Spring this year?

I actually had to go online to order toddler pants because most of the stores have shorts only. I know that the fashion world (even in babyland) is one season ahead but last I checked, most people tend to wear pants in the Spring. Guess next year I will stock up on pants in the winter and think a size or two ahead for the little one.

Anyone else find stores seasonally ahead of their game?

What can I do next?

I hate shopping for little ones, because the "buy two seasons ahead" philosophy that most stores maintain doesn't work when you don't know what size your angel will be wearing in 3-6 months! I couldn't find a simple pink turtle neck anywhere in January this year - they already had short sleeve shirts on the shelves/racks! As for toddler pants, don't get me started. All I can find are leggings, jeans (that don't allow her to bend) and sweat pants. I don't think anyone even makes cute mid- to light-weight cotton pants for girls anymore. It's all jersey or fleece :(

Thank goodness for consignment stores and hand-me-downs because the retail stores aren't trying to win my business...

That happens and I think with the non-winter (at least in my area) the stores definitly got a jump on the season. That said - clearance racks, TJ Maxx and Marshalls had great prices on spring clothes...

I used to have that problem with swimsuits- my kids would grow out of theirs late-summer and no one carried them anymore! Stores do not cater their clothing sales choices to young kids at all. It's not just this year!

I hate the fact that stores do that. I understand they expect people to shop ahead but sometimes you can't. Especially for children. No one can predict with any certainty how much a child will grow in any given time frame. And there are times during a season that you need items for one reason or another, but if you didn't plan ahead you will not find what you need in a store anywhere! An unexpected vacation. The child had a growth spurt. The child left a crayon in their pocket and after going thru the washer and dryer all their clothes now have orange spots and need to be replaced! (This happened to me once!)
