I am due with my 3rd child (boy) in a couple months. I have a 3 1/2 year old daughter who will be 4 in December. We plan to have my daughter and the new baby share a room for the first couple of years as we plan to get a bigger house later where they willl have their own rooms. Anyway, I am stuck on finding some type of matching bed sets for a crib and twin bed, for a boy and a girl. I was thinking of going with Sesame Street, however, I can't seem to find any sheets for a twin bed - they're only for a toddler bed. Also, thought of Mickey and Minnie mouse, but I can't really find anything that matches that I like. Any ideas?

Oh, also the walls in the room are bright yellow, so it has to be something that matches that, as well. Thanks in advance.

What can I do next?

Hi Mrs. C-

For my kiddos sharing a room when younger, I went with geometric PRIMARY colours for the sheets and bedding. I also got a nice primary colour kite with rainbow colour ribbon tail/streamers and suspended that from ceiling with streamers kind of billowing from the ceiling...

The kids loved it!

Primary was 'gender neutral'...and left wide open choices for other 'accent' pieces...

Best Luck!

Instead of a themed bedding, why not just do colors? If you already have yellow, get something with yellow and pink (bedding) for your daughter and yellow and green or yellow and blue for your son. My kids had matching bedding (but she was in a toddler bed) - hers was brown/light pink polka dots and his was brown/light blue polka dots.

You could also get your daughter's bedding first and then take a few of the accent colors and buy that for your son (if the bedding has blue or green, just go with plain blue or green sheets and blankets).

Congrats!!

Mine shared a room too! We did blue sky with clouds. But with yellow, Raggedy Anne and Andy are adorable and unisex.

Oh btw lol don't trust your toddler with baby alone. Put a monitor in the room! Mt oldest was giving my three month old pillows and blankets, and stuck a very large stuffed animal in his crib! Totally freaked me out! Congrats on new baby!

My 6yo daughter shares with her almost 1yo brother. They each have approx two walls of the room that is decorated to their gender/liking. What if you did kind of a nature motif, his side could be more swampy (frogs, dragonflies, etc) and hers turns into more of a prairie with wildflowers and butterflies? Could you paint the lower half of his side blue for water and hers green for grass? Then decorate the upper half of the wall, the yellow can be the sunny background. I used vinyl rub-ons to put flowers on the wall for my daughter, you can get them all over the internet, check etsy.com, many people on there make them.
And sheets don't have to be themed, you hardly see them, just get a couple sets in coordinating colors.

Just get colored bedding for the twin bed that compliments the colors of the baby Sesame St. bedding.
Or let your four year old pick out what she likes. When my boy and girl shared a room they both had blue and white quilts but he had Toy Story sheets and she had Little Mermaid.
They are 18 and 15 now, I miss those days :(

My almost two year old daughter will be sharing her room with the baby that's arriving in September. I went with a color palate that will work with girl or boy. I sewed the curtains, etc but you can buy or find someone to sew bedding or try places like TJMaxx or Target or IKEA. I like the idea of just picking colors not a theme. You will all be tired of any theme you pick soon!

Good luck!

If you have a theme, ex pooh bear or Mickey Mouse curtains. Just take a 2 colors from the curtains and buy colored sheets instead of trying to match sheet sets. It will bring the room together and you'll have more choices if you decide to buy other colors that go with the room in the future.
