Going for business. Can’t do much from 9-5. Any good suggestions for early morning/ late afternoon activities? Restaurants? Scenic walks? Will be flying Tuesday and returning Friday.

What can I do next?

TripAdvisor.com that's where I go. https://www.tripadvisor.com/Attractions-g52024-Activities...

I believe we have 3 moms here that are from Oregon. However, haven't seen them in here in a long time.

Stay at the Nines, if your business allows you to choose your hotel. It's a very cool place.

Walk around the Pearl District and be sure to make time (lots of time!) for Powell's bookstore. If you love books, it is not to be missed. Walk around Alberta Arts District. Ice cream at Salt & Straw. Eat at The Waiting Room in the Alphabet District. You won't be disappointed. Portland City Grill is a great restaurant with lovely views of the city.

The International Rose Test Garden is beautiful, but bloom season is over now. Put that on your list for your next visit.

Enjoy your trip! Portland is a very fun city to walk around and people watch. Just be mindful of your surroundings, since it will be dark by the time you're able to get out and do things. Would not walk near the river by yourself. I walked aournd the Pearl District by myself at night when there were lots of other people out dining and shopping and was fine.

I don't know much about Portland but know there is lots you can see in Oregon but like the beach but since you will be busy till 5 I don't think you would have time to go to the coast.

We were there with our son many years ago before our daughter was born...so he was young (5ish?). We enjoyed the aquarium a lot which is now closed. The japanese gardens were beautiful. The children's museum was superb! We went to the zoo one evening and they were having an event called the Smashing of the Pumpkins where you watch the elephants enjoying crushing an eating pumpkins. We had amazing pizza at Life of Pie. We went to a couple really good breweries for dinner...yum! One was called Commons and I can't remember the other. We just had fun walking around the city. We ate great food...but I can't remember names of restaurants any more. It was a great trip. Check hours for the japanese gardens, zoo and children's museum. Maybe you can go in the evening.

Check out TripAdvisor for Portland and then click "things to do." Awesome ideas and feedback from others who have enjoyed that activity. I always check that out before traveling - even if I have already visited the destination.

Have fun!

If you're a reader, check out Powell's Books. HUGE bookstore, could spend hours there. The city also has a nice art museum.

You may not get much feedback here, so check Tripadvisor. That's my go to site for travel.
I've only been to Portland once, basically just drove through so no recommendations. I remember it was beautiful, and I know there's lots of good food and drink, enjoy!

I've only browsed for years, never answered a question before. Powell's was a great suggestion. The only downside is that at this time of year it is dark when you are available. Shopping in the Pearl District, or Nob Hill are my highlights when visiting Portland. I'm not a beer fan, but people love McMenamins or Rogue Brewery. My sister used to live in Portland, but now that she's married she moved out of the city. I'd usually recommend biking or walking places, but since it's going to be dark in a big city that you don't know, I'd recommend you drive.
