Tights for Toddler Boys?

Any suggestions for socks that my 16mo son will not be able to pull off? It is only a problem when we are in the car, when he pulls both his shoes and socks off. Normally I wouldn't care, but it'll be getting very cold very soon and I don't want his little tootsies to freeze.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks ladies. Yes, I know his toes won't literally freeze in the car, but cold feet are never pleasant.

I think I'll go the neutral-colored tights route.

When my parents first put tights on my son last year I thought "How wierd!!" But honestly, as long they are plain looking, I think its great! Get white or grey or black ones. Gap sells really good ones and they are great for the winter. They look a little funny but they are a great layering piece!

I've dealt with this for 5 boys. For some reason they just don't care how cold it is! They want their feet free. Silly boys.

Up until my son was 2 I put him in a fleece one piece snow suit and it covered his feet so we didn't have that problem.

I have not done this Yet, but will be this winter ! I was a second hand shop and talking to the owner she said she would use Black tights on her son (the same kind you would buy for a girl) thats the Only way her son would keep them on - he had no choice - couldn't take them off. At first her husband was Not pleased w/ the idea, but she told him that they were 'specifically' for boys and only came in black and navy blue !! LOL I thought that was brilliant! so yes come these chilly winter months my little man (16 mo) will be wearing plain old black tights.... :-) give it a try

Marc Jacobs has tights for boys, but they are expensive. Cute though. =)

I agree on the cold feet front and also about the tights. My now 5 year old always took his shoes and socks off in the car and it made me crazy. I made him walk into the house barefoot once and he never did it again. That said, we used tights as a combo long underwear/sock solution. Sometimes I'd buy the footless tights and use just as long underwear. That same 5 year old loved them and always asked for his "supersocks."

I don't think his feet will freeze in a moving vehicle with the heat running.

I'm in Ukraine right now adopting our daughter, and EVERYONE wears tights. They make even make tights FOR boys with start wars, cars, etc on them. Its hysterical. They are the thick cotton ones.

Seriously, his feet wont' freeze off, he's in a car. he will stop doing it eventually, just buy tie shoes and double knot htem, and give him a toy or snack in the car instead so he leaves his shoes alone.

Mine did that, he finally stopped just two weeks ago, (he's 21 months). I just kept putting them back on. I really am against 'masking' things, but, instead correcting them. I agree that IF it gets cold, he will stop. This he needs to learn, and, he will stop taking them off. :)

buy tie sneakers and not velcro so he can't get them off as easily in the car. Good luck!

I use to have a blanket in the car so he could cover up when he wanted to. It kept his feet warm even it he pulled everything off.

I wouldn't worry too much about it, my 10 month old wont keep his socks on. His feet will be fine. Either he will be cold and uncomfortable and he will stop or he won't be bothered by it. Either way, he's not going to get frost bite while you are in a car.

I agree with Becky, and it's the same in other parts of Europe. Growing up both Girls and Boys wore tights in the winter and today my nephew will wear tights as well. They make them in black and blue with cars and other boy motives over there. Nothing weird about it.

On the other hand, he will probably not freeze off his little feet in the running car, but I get where you coming from, I hate having to spend 10 minutes everytime I take my daughter out of the car, looking for her socks and shoes and putting them back on...
