Throwing Up

This is a long one...Sorry. My DD is 5 month old. At 4 mon. we started on cereal. No issues. Then about 2 weeks ago we went to veggies. Green beans no issue, then carrots...made her constipated. So I stopped the carrots. Last Sat, only gaver her cereal and formula. She spit up a lot all day. Sun, just formula..she spit up a lot. Then Mon, started vomiting. So I did the pedialyte, pedi and formula. She acted as though she did not feel well, and had a temp of 100.(gave Tylenol) Tues she was fine. Ate only formula and did not spit up at all. Wed. started vomiting again (only formula all day) but not every time she ate only in the AM and about 5PM. Last bottle was at 7 then she went to bed no issues. This morning gave her half of her normal bottle, burped her, she threw up again twice. She does not act as though she feels sick though. Any ideas, why this is happening. I am clueless.

UPDATE: I took her to the doctoryesterday. This is what they said....everything looks fine no ear infection, not dehydrated. As long as she keeps pedialyte down for at least 30 minutes, then she should stay hydrated. Feed her in smaller amount more frequently. Her tummy was rumbling, so she expects her to have diarreha within the next couple of days. That would mean it was a stomach bug. But if she doesn't get diarreha then it could be something else. Kinda vague. So I guess I will just wait and see. Last night she did keep her formula down and this morning she hasn't thrown up just a little spit up.

What can I do next?

This sounds to me like the stomach bug that is going around. Both my kids and myself have had it. It is not a bad one, but my pedi said it is lasting about a week. Sporatic vomiting and diareah that comes and goes for up to 7 days. She said there is no rhyme or reason for why it is lasting this long and why one day they can have no symptoms then the next they do. Bananas, applesause, and rice cereal will help her stomach. Carrotts help with diareah. Also, peach juice from canned peaches with help settle her stomach and queasy feeling, 1 tsp every few hours. If it last more than 7 days I would call your pedi or if you can't keep any formula or pedialyte down her either. Also, watch her diapers, with a stomach bug you should have at least one wet diaper every 6-8 hours. My pedi told me she had 45 kids that were sick with this bug last week. Every child is different, so go with your gut on what you think you should do.

Sounds to me that she either has a bug (my daughter had one for over a week) or maybe she has developed Acid Reflux which my daughter has as well. She takes Zantac twice a day for it. I would def give your dr a call!

My four year old had a stomach virus a couple of weeks ago and threw up 10 times in a 24 hour period. Because your daughter is so young be sure to watch her closely for signs of dehydration. I would definitely call my pedi. My doctor is cautious about vomiting in young infants, and it can also be a symptom of another illness or infection.

If she has been throwing up that long you need to take her in to see your ped doc. Bring everything written down so they can review it. She could be developing reflux. When they are that little it is best to take them in!

My son acted like that with ear infections. I would recommend a trip to the doctor. I thought he had some sort of bug the first time. It turned out to be his first ear infection.

Hope that helps!

There is a bug going around. My son had two weekends ago on Saturday night, threw up 3 times that night. I then got it 3 days later. Then my oldest son got it. My youngest I think got it back this last weekend, although not as bad, just a little diarrhea.
It's awful when they are sick like that.
Good luck!
Keep her hydrated.

I agee with the other mom. There has been a bug going around since school started. My daughter had it weekend before last and then a few days later I got it and soon enough my husband caught it. It really makes you feel yucky:( Also, it could be acid reflux. Call her Pedi and check with them. Good luck!

She may have the rotovirus. This can kind of come and go for 5-7 days. I would just watch her for signs of dehydration, and if it goes to 7 days give your ped a call.

I'd call your pediatrician nurse line and explain the situation and see what they say. It sounds like to me that she may have a stomach virus. Sometimes they take about 10 days to pass.
