They make clip on bangs. They aren't too costly and will give you the opportunity to see how you look. You can find them online. Good luck
So I'm hating my hair lately and I'm thinking of getting bangs. Any thoughts? I haven't had bangs in a long time, but I need a change. I'm just afraid I'll totally hate it. I have shoulder length hair in long layers. It has a bit of a wave to it especially in the back. Any suggestions welcome especially from any mommy hair stylists :)
Thank you for all the advice. I think if I do it Ill go with the wispy side bangs. I'm also going to try to get some clip on bangs too. I think those will definitely help with the decision.

Obviously, we can't see you. But a good friend just posted, very proudly, a picture of herself with her new bangs and I didn't have the heart to tell her it looks awful. It's a matter of taste. I don't think the bangs flatter Michelle Obama, either -- they're too heavy -- I don't mind light, fringy bangs, but it's easy to go overboard...
well, without your picture posted on your profile, we really can't help you.
sorry! My opinion: I hate the new trend of bangs. Taylor Swift, Michelle Obama....yeah, they look (hmmm) okay, but it's not my first choice.
+ with "a bit of a wave" to your hair, you may end up fighting the wave to keep the bangs evened out!
you know yourself best....follow your instincts! Good Luck!
I have bangs and love them! I'll never go back to constantly brushing my hair off of my face. I'm a writer and look down all the time at source material and found without bangs, too much ended up in my eyes when I looked down. Bangs are just a much softer look for me and suit my face.
I know there are online sites where you can "try out" different hairstyles over a photo of yourself. You might do that to make sure you really want bangs.
Love the bangs but I would recommend trying a wig out to see how you may like a banged style on your face and head. No real commitment and a better sense of what kind of bang would work for you.
I say go for the change. Many people don't like change which is why they will say they don't like the bangs on certain people but a great stylist can make bangs work on anyone. Again go for the change but try something temporary first.
Your hair sounds lovely the way it is. I could understand wanting a change, but maybe, as others have suggested try the "clip ons" to see if you like them.
I have naturally curly hair so I can't make drastic cuts either, without having to wait a decade for it to grow it!
I look great in bangs, but I hate taking care of bangs! I have naturally curly hair, so if I have bangs I have to do them, I can't just wash and wear. They look great if I flat iron them, unless it rains, or I want to go swimming, or I was working out and sweaty etc. Then I have to pin them back. A few years ago I decided to have just a little fringe cut, and I thought "Why did I do this!!!", but I was just looking at a picture I of myself with them and thought "I should do that again!" As cute as it would look, I don't have the time and the maintanence doesn't fit my lifestyle.
I have bangs.
I like it.
I have also had no bangs and just long hair.
But I like bangs.
My hair is still longish in layers, and I have waves too.
You need to see a good hair stylist, they can tell you.
Wispy longer type of bang I think would look nice.
Bangs are for kids and young teens. It is a kids hairstyle and makes an older woman look like she is trying to recapture her youth. I have a friend who had bangs and when her daughter became a hair stylist she talked her into the side bang, just enough to add some soft hair around her face but not cover her forehead.
The little bit of hair around her eyebrows but not on top of them softened her hair style and made her look younger.
She eventually went back to bangs and she looks like she has gained over 50 lbs because that straight line across her forehead makes her face look wider than it is so it adds a lot of pounds to her features.
Why don't you try a longer side swept bang first? One that would hit a little lower than your cheekbone.
Keep the bangs a little long-then you can put a bend in them with a blow dryer and wear them in front or dry them back and wear them off your face.
