Ok My daughter and I have somewhere to go on Thanksgiving to eat but I don't really want to be there long. It's a long story(can't stand my dad's fiance) and have no where else to go. We were only invited because they had to invite us not because they wanted to.All my other family it out of state. So we will go and make a appearance maybe stay an hour or so etc. We should be done with dinner by 5pm and I don't want to go home either- depressing and my neighbors are having a huge party and I don't want to listen to that makes it more depressing. So anyways what is open tomorrow or what can I do with my 5 year old? I thought of a movie. Is there anything else open tomorrow or any special events going on? I am up for anything. I'm willing to volunteer at a soup kitchen ANYTHING that doesn't require sitting at home depressed. It would be nice to do something special or meaningful on Thanksgiving and give my daughter a good memory.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Well we did the show up and eat thing, noone really talked to us that's why we didn't want to go. So then we went to the MOA and did Camp Snoopy. It was really dead there which is nice and alot of differnt cultures there I'm going to guess they don't celebrate Thanksgiving. Then we saw a movie and came home. It was nice and I'm SO glad the it was open or I would have went nuts.It definately made my daugther's day special. Thanks for all the suggestions.

Just checked the Park at the Mall of America is open until 7:30, however, you might want to call just to make sure.
Also, if I saw correctly the Holidazzle parade doesnt start until Friday.
A movie would still be fun. Splurge and get her some popcorn or a sweet treat. I heard the Santa clause movie with Tim Allen is REALLY good!

Take her to a park and play for a while and then try a movie. I think most movie theaters are open today. Take a drive and look at the sights, Red Wing is beautiful. You can research it on line and show her the history of the town.

Have a happy Thanksgiving no matter what you do, it is not the food that is important.

Make your own memories and traditions for this day.

It is supposed to be a fairly warm fall day. Why not bundle up and go for a walk in the "woods." There are some woodsy unofficial trails in the trees on the west side of Como Park, for instance. Or what about walking along the Mississippi?

I believe that the Hollidazzle parade is happening tomorrow night-that would probably be fun for you and your daughter. I'm not sure what time it starts, I think 5:30 or 6:00-it would be good to get there early, the weather is going to be nice so it would be a great night to go.

Hope you find something nice to do with your daughter-you're lucky to have her & she is lucky to have you!

Sincerely,
A.
