The Pill & Libido

I am 36 y.o. and going back on the pill this Sunday. I'm fixed and so is my husband, I just wanted to go back on the pill to decrease the severity and frequency of my periods. But I was told last night by a good friend that it has the tendency to decrease libido and vaginal lubrication. I've never had problems with that before. Any advice?

What can I do next?

It's killed both for me.
But, we keep a healthy stock of KY in the house, and I can always get into it once we get going.

I have never had a problem with the lubrication, but I'm going off the pill in a week due to decreased libido. It drives me and my husband crazy that I'm never in the mood since I'm on the pill.

If you haven't had a problem with this on the pill before, then you probably won't in the future. However, my libido decreased severely while I was on the pill. I am no longer on the pill and hopefully I won't ever get back on it. Off the pill, not only has my libido increased, but I feel better about myself physically. :) Good luck with whatever you decide!

I get both decreased libido and decreased lubrication on the pill. My husband is getting a vasectomy in three days. Can't wait to get off the pill! I'm a little worried because I have PMS even when I'm on the pill so I don't know if that will get worse, but I'm willing to risk it in order to enjoy a sex life again.

I just had a baby and had problems with decreased lubrication. My DR prescribed me some "premarin" vaginal cream that you put in during the night... makes a HUGE difference! try it out! call your dr and he should be able to prescribe it... good luck!

The pill also decreased my libido. But it doesn't happen to everyone. As long as that doesn't happen to you then I say take the pill. But if you do experience it, sooner or later you will want to get off of it.

If you didn't have a problem before, you may not again. I have an issue with both, and hate it, but don't remember having it on other types of pills.

I went off the pill due to decreased libido. It took me a while to figure out that that was the problem! When I stopped taking it, it was like night and day. My husband was thrilled. lol
I am wondering though, after 35 aren't there more risks involved for a woman taking the pill? I may be wrong, but might be something to look into.

I am probably a minority, but since I started the pill, ...OMG....my libido has improved and increased! I don't have problems with lubrication, but I can suggest you the use of a vaginal lubricant if you have a lubrication problem. If you have not experienced these problems before you are more likely you won't have them!

It did for me; I gained weight too. I know it affects everyone differently but I have decided it is not for me! The benefits of it were not worth the side effects in my case.
