most strollers with a swivel have a switch so you can lock it when you run. That is the only way to go!
I want to purchase the Bob Duallie for my 23month old and my 8 week old. Does it make that big of a difference to get the swivel wheel? There is such a big difference in price. We are an active family and I would be using this as my every day stroller also. The one I am interested in is the sport utility duallie.

I have the Bob Duallie w/ swivel wheel and love it. I have a 3 yr old and almost-2 yr old. Great ease of use having the swivel. I never used the one w/ the fixed wheel but I can tell you that I've spoken with others who have and they've confirmed it makes a big difference having the swivel and prefer it much better. Hope that helps!
I have the one without the swivel wheel because I thought is was necessary for my off road running- huge mistake. there are so many serious runner moms using the revolution just fine on the dirt path I run on. If you are considering using it as your every day stroller then learn from my mistake- swivel wheels are necessary. The non swivel wheel is for the serious hard core runners. If you are so so jogger like me, get the swivel wheel! With out it, you will never take your huge bulky nonswivel stroller anywhere but for runs. (the non swivel has a larger wheel and really doesn't fold up as nicely as the other bobs. Swivel is the only way to fly. I would love to go back and fix my mistake.
Get the swivel wheel!!!! Seriously!! I bought tho other one on Craigs list and it is a pain to manouver.
E.,
I believe it makes a huge difference. I didn't want to pay the extra cost for the swivel wheel either but am so happy that I did. I have a single Bob (the yellow one - can't remember the name right now) and that was great for running with one but now that I have two the duallie (swivel wheel) works great. I don't jog with both of them often but being able to turn easily with the swivel wheel (and their total weight)makes walking with them enjoyable. I use it as my every day stroller and believe it was worth the price. I have two boys - 2 1/2 and 5 and they still enjoy sitting in it. Good luck!
Hi E.,
The fixed front wheel is for runners. The swivel wheel is better suited to most people who primarily want it as a daily stroller but may take an occasional jog (the front wheel can be locked on the Revolution). BOB is currently having a sale throught he 15th of the month so it's a great time to buy! Check out www.octraveltykes.com. Free shipping and no sales tax and if you live local to San Clemente you can even pick it up pre assembled and get a tutorial on it.
Best of luck!

YES, YES, YES... it makes a HUGE difference. I used my dbl as an every day for a while and am so glad it had the swivel. I had a single without the swivel and rarely used it. Only used it for running and even then I didn't like it. Pay the extra cash and you wont regret it. It's so difficult getting around anywhere with a double, doing it without the swivel will be impossible. Good luck. You can often find them used on Craigslist.
YES!!!! I have twins. Do NOT Bbuy any stroller without a swivel wheel unless you want an arm workout. The swivel wheel let's you turn on a dime. Get in and out of tight spots and corners. Without it you'll be physically lifting stroller to turn corners. Non swivel only good with jogging. Go into a babystore with aisles and try turning down them without a swivel. USA baby in Burbank has some to try. Btw we have the BOB And love it!
LOVE our BOB Revolution dualie! We bought it during REI's last sale and haven't had a minute of regret. We did a lot of research and so many people said they wished they had bought this stroller first, so we took the plunge and are very happy with it.
The front wheel has a swivel lockout knob so that you can use it either way. It's so lightweight and easy to push that I can't imagine needing another stroller for our twins.
I'd recommend the swivel wheel if you esp if you are getting a double BOB. I'm a less is more type of person, don't like all the baby bells and whistles, but I spent on the BOB and I use it all the time: Grocery store, beach, sidewalks, trails. I love it as an everyday stroller. Again, do recommend the swivel.

Hi
Everyone at my www.babybootcamp.com class LOVES this stroller. As for the swivel wheel, it depends what you will be using the stroller for. Most people lock the front wheel if they are jogging, but it adds to the manouverability if you just plan on walking or taking it to the mall.
Good luck
HUGE difference. When my kids were little, they only had the fixed wheel option. Having to jump on the handlebar to make a turn got very tiresome. I had the Baby Jogger double and the Bob Utility double. I have had a BOB single for the past 3 yrs. and I love it. The swivel wheel will make your life so much easier!! Plus, www.joggermom.com is having a HUGE sale on all the BOB Strollers this month. Check it out to see if you can get a better deal!!
In my opinion the swivel wheel is well worth the extra money. In order to turn the sport utility with the fixed wheel you will have to push down on the handlebar and lift up the front tire. This not only will get harder to do as your kids get older/heavier but it can be very hard on your wrists, even when they're small. Also, it is a royal PITA when you are in a store. The revolution maneuvers much like a standard 4-wheel stroller making turning, going forward or backward easy. I had a single sport utility by BOB. I returned it for the revolution which I know own in the single as well as the duallie.
I don't have any specific info for THIS stroller. But, from experience, the swivel wheel makes a huge difference. I would go for it!
You have received plenty of good advice already, but I just had to say we LOVE our Bob and couldn't live without it. We also opted for the dualie as our everyday double and went with the swivel wheel AND all wheels 12". We used to have the 16" wheel and found the smaller wheels to be much easier to manuver in public, but just as great on runs and the beach (which we do often). Good luck! Hope you love it as much as we do.
Oh my gosh yes. I babysit for a couple that has a swivel wheel and a couple who doesn't. I won't use the stroller without the swivel. You have to pick it up all the time to turn the darn thing. I can't believe they even make those strollers without the swivel. There is no way I woud buy a BOB stroller that the front wheel didn't swivel.
Hi, I have the same stroller for my twins and I love the swivel wheel. It allows you to be in control not the stroller.
Good luck and congratulations on your new baby!
I LOVE my Bob Revolution Duallie. Definitely get the swivel wheel. When we go on family jogs, my hubby just locks the front wheel. My kids are now 4.5 and 2.5 so we don't use it as much anymore. But when my DD was born to about 6 months ago, I used it as my everyday stroller. Definitely spend the extra money for the handlebar console. We never bought the snack tray/infant carrier bar. We just put my DD in it when she was about 2 months old (over 10lbs, I think is the recommendation). Until then I just pushed my son in our single revolution and would carry my daughter in her Maya Wrap whenever we went out.
Definitely wait until it goes on sale at REI.com. They usually go on sale during Memorial Day and Labor Day Weekends. Usually 25% off. We did this when we bought our single for our son, and then again when we bought our Duallie when our daughter was born. We paid $450 for the Duallie, another $20 for the handlebar console, and got free site to store shipping. So with tax it came to just under $500 which is a considerable savings seeing as the reg price is $525 for the Duallie, plus $35 for the handlebar console, plus shipping. You can sign up on the REI site to get notifications of sales.
Also check Babyusa.com. I have heard that they sometimes have sales on their Bobs too.
Good luck and have fun with your Duallie. Both my hubby and I agree that other than spending the extra money for our Britax carseats, our Bobs were the best money we ever spent on Baby/Kid gear. TOTALLY worth it! We have taken our Bobs camping, to the beach, flat hikes and jogs, road trips, amusement parks, and even on planes (took the single for this) not to mention all the everyday places I go to.
You can literally push and steer it with just your index finger.
Now that both my kids can walk, I just use our single Revolution. And if both kids get tired, one sits in the seat and the other sits in the foot space in front of the other one. My kids actually like doing this.
I have a pre dualie stroller, and no swivel wheel. Which os fine on the beach, but forget about taking it anywhere else. Big ol' pain.
Yes, it makes a huge difference on navigating through crowds. Does it have a locking mechanism so you can lock it for beach etc? I would get the swivel wheel if you can.
Hi E.!
The swivel wheel is REALLY important. It is so much harder to manuever the Bob when the wheel is locked. I too use it as my only stroller, and I tell everyone to make sure whatever jogging stroller, or three wheeled stroller they get, to have a swivel wheel. When you are in stores and trying to go around things, that wheel is key.
Just my two cents!! I LOVE my Bob Stroller!!!
Take care,
M.
I have the City Series(double) Baby Jogger, it is comparable to BOB. Both money and versatility. It has a single action fold,(the releases are in the seats you pull them and the stroller folds back), it has 2 front wheels,(they do have the swivel lock/unlock) the hood has "flaps" that you can roll up to get cross breeze w/mesh underneath, side and back..I love this stroller, I have had it 5 years, the ONLY thing that has gone wrong or had problems with is last month the sponge handle started to come off. I have 6 kids, I have had 5 of them in it and push GREAT, steers great too. I have had DOZENS of strollers over the years I absolutely recommend this one to EVERYONE. I did not use the car seat converter, but they do offer it as well. The handle on this toggles up and down for shorter or taller drivers(my kids love it) do not know about the BOB..This is MY only stroller now. (I have an inline eddie bauer in the garage, has lots of cobwebs now)..

it is here for $499.99, shipping is free ups...Good luck on your investment! I Wish they had this 13 years ago w/my first one :)
I dont have the Bob, but, you want a swivel front wheel. I have had both a 'locked' and swivel and swivel makes everything so much easier. You dont have to 'lift' the front of the stroller to turn it.
