So What Happened?

So the 17 day diet is a diet of 3 phases. Each phase is 17 days. I 'have been yo yo dieting for 6 months now and I'm just sick of this fat not coming off. So I went to target and bought the book for $13 and it is pretty easy. It only asks you to walk for 20 minutes if you want to and the recipes it provide are pretty good. I have about 6 recipes I'm going to stick to because they are really good and easy to plan ahead. You must drink green tea though. This has been difficult because I hate tea. I have had headaches from detoxing. I almost didn't make it through the first day because of the headaches and I wanted chocolate. But, I stuck it out and weighed myself and I was down 3 pounds, so I contunued. You dont' get bread, but you do get little amounts of dairy. I have still been putting creamer in my coffee and still see results.

Good luck to you on that. I've seen my husband try juicing, detox diets, the martha's vineyard diet, the good calorie diet, and a number of others. All of them seem to be modified starvation diets, sending your body into bounce back mode.

My suggestion for healthy weight loss, split all your meals in half eat 1/2 your breakfast at 7, and 1/2 again at 10, for a total of 6 seatings. Resist the temptation to dole yourself out more than 1/2 of your ordinary serving amount. Bulk out the meal with healthy, non processed low cal foods. so if ordinarily you had a sausage egg mcmuffin and a latte for breakfast, have 1/2 the sausage egg mcmuffin and 1/2 the latte + a pint of blueberries and a cup of drip coffee. at your "second breakfast its the other half, plus say grapefruit, and so on and so forth.

By doing it in this fashion, no special foods are necessary. Since you are eating so often, you are less likely to feel deprived. You will fill your belly with good, nutricious, low calorie, high fiber foods. As time goes on, you will find that you don't need as much to eat, and you will loose weight.

If you adopt this as your lifestyle, you may achieve a long term healthier weight.

I'm not on it but interested in it. 5 lbs in 2 days - that's wonderful! How difficult is it? I'm looking on thier website right now but if you could give more of a personal account about what you find with it, that would be great! Curious as well to the response you get. Congrats and way to go!

My good friend has been on this diet and is through phase 3. She's down a total of 15 lbs, but admittedly has not followed the diet explicitly the whole time. She decided to blog about it to help keep her on track and accountable. You could check out her blog if you want so you can read about her experience with the diet so far.

It's the website for her t-shirt company, but the blog entries have been mostly about the 17 day diet.

Good luck to you!

First of all 5 lbs in 2 days is NOT healthy and will NOT be permanent. Any of those detox diets or crash diets are not healthy for your body, and you body will take measures to correct the deficit. Once you stop the diet your body will begin to store the food and you will gain the weight back plus more. The only healthy way to lose weight is 1-2 lbs a week, by eating right and exercising. I know it's difficult to eat right, lots of veggies and fruit and whole grains, it just takes a lot of will power. Exercising is difficult too, but if you can do at least 30 mins a day, 6 days a week, you'll be on your way to a healthy weight and life. You can even do 3, 10 minute intervals of exercise throughout the day. It's no fun and takes work, but I have struggled since I was teenager, and am now finally at a good weight, and it's from eating right and exercising. It's a way of life, not a short term solution.

I do have a sweet tooth, a bad one. But, I reserve it for once a week, usually the weekend, where I indulge, and then I eat very good for the whole week. I make it my reward!

I am considering it when I move out of my in laws -- food is a HUGE issue in this house, I stopped rocking the boat too much :(
IF you want via PM give me the skinny on how food prep/time etc is and how constricting/demanding it is or is not, I get that you change every 17 days but is it a realistic plan?
