How very nice of you to recognize this little girl for helping out. Whatever you do, it will make her feel special. Movie certificate or gift cards are great at this age.
Last night we had two of my husband's co-workers and their families for dinner. The one family had an almost 11 year old girl that spent the whole night playing with our 2.5 year old. We would like to give her something as a thank you.
Suggestions?

GIft card to a favorite store or movie theater or other fun activity.
Inexpensive jewelry item (bracelet, or earrings if ears are pierced).
Cute colorful scarf/mittens set.
Lip gloss/nail polish/hand cream (Bath and Body Works has some products geared toward girls that age).
Stationery, feathery pens, purses, lip gloss...I work in middle school, I watch all of these girls carrying around things like this-fun things.
I would give a certificate for her and a friend to go out to the movies or bowling or some kind of activity. Something for her to enjoy some time out.
I would do a gift card to your local shopping store. Or if you know if she has an Ipod, a gift certificate to down load more music.
My oldest is almost 11 yrs. The older kids really enjoy an online club called "Club penguin" Nothing inapporiate is going on. Just computer games. You can can a gift card probably at your supermarket starting at $5.
My kids all enjoy checking out 5 below. Or girls really like this store called "Justice"
What about a piece of jewelry? Nothing expensive, just a beaded bracelet? Or a picture frame? A fun, colorful change purse? Not sure how much you want to spend, but what a nice idea. I'm sure whatever it is, she'll appreciate it :o)
You are so sweet to do this. She will be thrilled!
11 , so she is in 4th or 5th grade? I agree 11 year olds love movie gift cards, Ice cream shop gift cards, shopping gift cards, Itunes, gift cards, book store gift cards.. ..
Be careful with any type of make up. her parents may not be ready for that.
Don't know if you have ever been there but there is a great little store in downtown Glen Ellyn called Em & M's. We've been in there a few times and they have all sorts of fun girly stuff. Not really a specific suggestion, but they do have really cute stuff.
a small gift card for Claire's boutique or subway.
During our visit with my dear high school friend a few months ago, my little boy was entertained by my friend's amazing 11 year old step-daughter. The young lady was excellent with my son and her own little sister. She has lovely red hair. I ordered a broach from a Russian mail order company designed to complement her beautiful hair. (I also ordered nesting dolls for the little sister, who was also wonderful with my son.) The company is called Tols Toys.
What a nice thing for you to do - I'm sure the girl will be thrilled. Gift cards are fun at that age, either to a mall, McDonalds, a movie theater or a store that has a little bit of everything like Target.
can you describe the girl more, tomboy, girlie.. artistic? it would be helpful
thanks much
A gift card that she can use anywhere. At 11 she will love being able to swipe her card. Maybe $10-15. Make it the amount you would have had to pay the babysitter for the amount of time she kept your child busy.
