I have a 2008 Dodge Caliber that I bought last year and I am expecxting my first son at the end of July. Does anyone know if Dodge has a list of car seats that they've used in Crash tests other than their own 'built-in' models? I'm still looking for a travel system that has a safe carseat and a good stroller. Any suggestions?

What can I do next?

strollers and car seats are definitely a matter of personal preference...I found that it was better for me to "build" my own travel system because I didn't like the same carseat brand as stroller brand...I used a snap 'n go type stroller for the infant carseat (I chose the britax companion - there are both pros and cons to this carseat) and have had a peg perego and a chicco stroller for a larger stroller. I also have a padded umbrella type stroller, but I actually prefer the bigger stroller with a food tray. Just another option - mix and match...

I would recommend getting snap and go frame over any travel system. So much lighter better compact hated my gracco tour! Travel systems are so firstbaby they r what u get when u dont know better

I am also a huge Graco fan, however I LOVE my Macleren stroller. They are not a trravel system stroller, more umbrella, but I only used a system with my first. I wish I had spent some more money on stuff with #1 so it had lasted better for the others, but now I am buying nice stuff for the last. So do you homework, and if you will be having more kids keep that in mind with purchases as well!

We had the Graco Quattro Tour deluxe and loved it! It was sturdy and safe and we used the carrier portion well after 12 months. The stroller is bulky, but is over two years old and still in great shape!

I'm not sure about carseats used in crash tests, but as far as a travel system I love graco quattro tour. The stroller is a bit big in my trunk, but it was well worth it for me. I have used it everywhere. My friend had one and used it until her daughter was 4. Good luck!

don't go on price alone. I was shocked that a lot of the higher end carseats had bad ratings! do your research at the national highway traffic safety administration website: http://www.nhtsa.gov/
They have all the most popluar brands of carseats tested as well as a plethera of safety information.

Car seats are crash tested on sleds, not in actual vehicles, so you will be hard pressed to find a specific car seat crash test in your specific vehicle.

In an infant car seat, go to Babies R Us and try them out. Make sure you can easily work the buckle, tighten and adjust the harness, and that you can easily get it in and out of the base. Look for a car seat that you can easily carry, one that feels like its a good fit for you.

Then I suggest you find a CPST in your area at www.safekids.org and get some help installing it and teaching you how to use it correctly every time.
