Hello!

I have a 13 month old and another baby on the way, due in February. I would like to get a double stroller that holds one infant car seat. I can't find any online. All I can find are strollers for twins, i.e., with two infant seats. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I have used a graco double stroller that I was able to attach my graco car seat onto the back seat. I think most of the graco products are pretty compatible. I've had my stroller for 6 years but I would think they would still make a similar model. Good Luck

Search for the Graco Duo Glider. Eddie Bauer has one and so does Evenflo and Baby Trend. Those are the less expensive ones. You can also find them on the classifieds. I love shopping on KSL.com.. I don't know where you live, but it's a great way to get a stroller. Like this one: http://www.ksl.com/index.php?nid=218&ad=4255667&c...=

I am an absolute lover of the Phil and Ted's stroller. I have the SPort myself and love how easy it is to maneuver and how it isn't extremely long when the doubles kit is added, like most tandem double strollers are. It stays the same length, since the doubles kit is just added under the main seat. It is a bit pricier but I think it's definitely worth it if you continue to use it.

It's great for your kids, because they are so close in age they'll be able to fit in it for awhile. You can attach a carseat on the stroller, but then it won't fit the doubles seat. But the way to fit a newborn and toddler is to have the newborn lay in the bassinet and the toddler in the seat.

Anyway, check it out at the website: http://www.philandteds.com/nz/inline_08_1.htm

And let me know if you have any questions or if you're interested in it, since I do have one and may be interested in selling it since my toddler is getting older. Good luck in finding a stroller!

I have the Graco duo glide(something like that I think) and it has the capability for two infant car seats, but I've always just used the back seat for the infant seat and the front seat for the older child cause that is where the infant seat fits best anyway, especially with an older child in the stroller. It worked great for us.

Normally I would recommend my favorite double - the Sit n Stand. However, you older baby is still too young for it to be terribly useful for you. If you are near to one of the larger baby stores - Baby's R Us is a good choice - I would recommend going in there and seeing what they have available. If you are reusing your daughter's infant seat, take it with you and try it in the floor models. Most of all, I would say, push the strollers around the store. Get a feel for how they steer. Double strollers are notorious for being beasts to push around, especially the front to back ones. There are large Babies R Us stores in Fort Collins and one or two up in Denver. I would say for a purchase this large, it's definitely worth it to drive for a while to make sure you get the right stroller.

Best of luck,
S.

Definitely do your homework on this. I hate my double stroller. It does not turn well, and one of the wheels is now broken, and I don't even use it much. Ours is made by Fisher Price. I would say it is worth paying a little extra to get a really good one. Good luck.

The Graco Dual Glider is found at Babies R Us. You can put two carriers with it, but it can be used with just one as well. Mine came with one carrier, but I think you can get it without any. There are also the type (I don't know what they are called) that has a spot for the baby carrier and then in the back a small platform for the older child to stand or sit. Also at Babies R Us. I have recently seen this at Walmart as well.

We have the Baby Tend Sit n Stand LX stroller. I really like it because it has several options. Right now I have it set up for the infant seat and a second seat for my 22 month old to sit in. Then as the girls get older I will set it up so that there is a seat in the front and the second seat comes out and it is a bench. That way my older daughter can sit or stand.

I didn't want to have to keep buying strollers for the different ages and I am pleased with this one because it will adjust to the needs of the passengers as they age.

Oh, one more thing...it is NOT too heavy and it folds up easily.

If you go to onestepahead.com there is a cute stroller that I plan on buying for our daughter and the baby on the way. I'm in the same boat as you but this one seems to be what I am looking for. It's called the sit-n-stand deluxe...I think. But it's cool because it sits two children (even one in a infant carrier) and if you feel like your older child is ready to be more independent you can use the sit-n-stand feature. It's awesome definately check it out. It also has tons of reviews on it. Good luck and if you find something let meknow:)

We love our Combi Twin Sport. It tells you which side should be used for the infant seat. I believe it's the right side when you're walking behind it. We used it with our sons now 5 and 2, and we're using it again with the younger one and the new baby. It goes anywhere! We used to have a back and front and would never go back. This pushes and steers with one had and fits anywhere, including bathroom stalls! The only exception is historical buildings that are not up to code. I have a friend who uses the Jeep side by side, but I'm not sure it takes an infant seat. We don't use our infant seat often, because the stroller lays down so nicely and makes into a bit of a bassinet, so we usually just do that for the baby. I would highly recommend checking these out. I've seen them on clearance in Babies 'R Us often as they change the colors often. Congratulations!

Hi C.,

I just bought the One Step Ahead Double Elite Sit & Stand. I have a 2 year old and a 2 month old and this has been fantastic so far! The back seat can be either a regular stroller seat or a platform to stand/sit on. The front accommodates most major infant carriers (ours is a Graco and it fits perfectly) with one simple modification. It's narrow enough to fit down department store aisles too! My only complaint is that it's heavy at 45 pounds but provides a great workout when I've got it all loaded up!

Here's a link to the stroller. Good luck!

I have the baby trend sit and stand that fits a car seat and another child behind. I love it. My daughter is 3 so she just uses the platform to sit on or she stands on the stroller, but it has the option to have a second actual seat facing forward in the back. After your baby gets older there is a seat in the front that they will be able to sit in. I got mine through strollerbabies.com and it was here so quickly and I was very satisfied with my order. I ordered it first through TinyRide.com but the stroller was on backorder for so long I was afraid I'd never get it. I did buy the car seat that went with it and so far I'm very happy with it, my son is great in his car seat on the stroller and my daughter loves it because she can hop on and off so quickly. Having a c-section that was so much easier for me so she wouldn't have to be lifted in or out.

I like the Joovy Caboose - they are a little pricey, but you can sometimes find one on Craig's list. It holds an infant car seat (most models). The other child can sit or stand in the back of the stroller. After the baby is out of the car seat, they can sit in the front seat.

Wasatch Running carries them cheaper than anywhere else I have been able to find. The owner and his wife also have one. They can advise you on the best model for you. They are in a shopping mall on 9000South and State street. On the west side of state and the north side of 90000 south.

My two younger ones are 18 months apart and the Graco Duo-Glider was the best double stroller and we tested a few, including the Sit & Stand. The Graco's wheels are bigger, so it's so easy to move around!! And it's not too bulky and fits in the doorway!

We have the Baby Trend Sit 'n' Stand stroller. It can hold an infant seat with a special adapter (comes with it), and then when the baby is older, it converts so the baby can sit in the stroller seat. My kids love it. My kids are 4 and 2, so it can get heavy when pushing up hill, but that is a recent problem--when they were smaller, it was a breeze to push. We got ours at Target--I think it was $165.

I see you have a lot of responses already, but the last person to respond mentioned the Chariot. I just bought the Chariot double stroller a couple weeks ago, and I LOVE IT!! It's a little pricey, but REI.com actually was having/and may still be having a super sale on it! I only have one child right now, but it will be perfect for two! I have the infant sling, and my little boy loves to ride in it! The stroller also has attachments you can buy for anything! Jogging, biking, hiking, x-county skiing, and two swivel wheels. I bought the first two, and it's really fun. I figure when I have my second I'll buy the swivel wheels and it will work great as a regular stoller...so I don't always have to have the jogging wheel on it which is harder to turn. It fits in doors, and is well ventilated if you want the mesh, or rain cover on. Also has storage pocket in the back. I love it! And, when I went to REI to pick it up, there was a couple that saw me strolling it out and they raved about it!!! They showed me how to fold it, and all the tricks, and they said that they didn't buy a car they were looking at because it wouldn't fit in the trunk. (I have a Honda Civic and it fits perfectly in the trunk, and fold really flat. Tip: if you buy it, when you put it in your trunk, stick it in long ways first and then turn it get the other end in.)

Otherwise graco does make a good double stroller. You can hook a car seat onto the front or back of it.

Anyway, good luck and have fun!

many front and back double strollers are made to hold an infant car seat on one of the seats. we have an evenflo (from walmart) that has straps and a bar that hold the carseat secure on the back seat. then the straps/bar can be moved out of the way or taken off when you're not using the infant carrier anymore. personally, i wouldn't recommend the evenflo brand because we have had to replace several broken parts on it. it comes with a warranty, so the replacements were always free, but it's not always convenient to keep up on contacting the company in time for repairs. aside from so much of the stroller being plastic and breaking easily, i have enjoyed having a stroller like this. i know there are some front/back strollers that come with the car seat and others that fit most car seats in general, so you can use the one you already have. i hope you find one you really like!

ah, mine are just 15 months apart and now 3 and 4..so I know: Here is what I found:
1. Sit and Stand didn't work as the one year old not big or old enough...but is nice later if you get a used one as it is smaller for the car
2. Double long (Graco) is great for this age. I used it mostly for walks and big tripd to zoo, etc as it is comfortable. Get the biggest wheels you can find but chek the weight as they are heavy. I liked that I can put the infant carrier from the car to the stroller those first months. But 'out grew' the huge size when baby was about one.
3. Double wide umbrella stroller. I have a cheap one I still use. i got all mine used to save money and will have to toss it now we have had it so long. When the baby was about 6 months, I used that one in the car for most of the daily erands as the seat did go back. But you have to wake up the baby when you take them out. My friend had one of those expensive Eutropean ones and loved it. She used that from birh as the foot thing came up for a tiny baby. But it did not hold a stroller. It is lighter, smaller for a car or van trunk that is so small and stood up on its one once folded up.4. Eventually, you will probably get don to just an umbrella stroller and have the kids trade out when tired. By the time the eldest is three, they are up and down all the time anyway...so a sit and stand or a single umbrella works well.
5. we used a double seat bike trailer (Kelty) that had a stroller attachment for bikes, jogging, and big trips (when my hubby went so he could put it in the car. we have a jeep though with a roomy runk. I have seen some use them in the zoo, etc and strap them on top of their vans. I wouldn't recommend a jogging stroller unless you do it all the time and hae sotrage space in the garage for it.

Last bit of advice. My friend with all the kids and myself put up those huge bike hooks inthe garage wall...in studs. then the strollers are all lined up on the wall and not rolling around everywhere. there is always one stored in my car too.

Good luck and i love having my kids close together! You get to go to the same play dates as the kids are all the same ages.

Hi!
Wasn't sure if you had tried www.onestepahead.com - they have a good selection of strollers and have had a new line come out in the last year that could be what you are looking for. There is one that is a dual stroller that can handle an infant seat and in the rear that seat can convert to a sit and stand when your other child is ready for that. Sorry, I don't remember the name of the brand, but it looks nice! Also, the nice thing with that website is that if someone has purchased the item they have the chance to review it, so you might be able to find out what people that have it think of it. Good luck!

Hi. A Graco Duo Glider double stroller is great. You can use one or two infant seats with this stroller. It is great fo twins or use for a infant in a infant seat and the other seat for the other child. I think most infant seats will fit all though I think the Graco models fit the best. I have twins 30 mo. and 4 1/2 yrold. I love the stroller. I did not have a brand of seat to fit My stroller. I had the discovery brand infant seats. I would recomend going to see the strollers in person they look differnt on line some are heavy. walmart , babies r us, and shopko, target, kmart, and burlington coat factory have strollers in store to see and try. It is important to get the deluxe because it has a back support. for the back seat. It has an carseat attachment for the front then can convert to a regular seat. The back seat has all the support but later can convert to a booster seat that allows the older one to stand or easily get out if they want to . Check it out.

I actually have twins, and have a double stroller that fits two carseats. However, I didn't buy the stroller WITH the two carseats. I had a baby before the twins, so I already had an infant carseat. When we were looking for a double stroller, we wanted one that would fit two seats, but didn't come with two. We found a ton of options like that, as well as ones that just fit an older child and one infant carseat at Burlington Coat Factory. The one we bought was the Safety First brand, and it had "stadium" type seating where the child in the back was a little higher than the front so they could see. The back seat reclined fully so you can put a sleeping infant in it like a bassinette, and the front seat could be turned backward so the kids can face each other. They both had the option of snapping a carseat in, and were easily convertible to regular seating with straps. And they both had the adjustable hoods for shade. Anyway... If there's not an actual store near you, their website is www.burlingtoncoatfactory.com. Or you could check out Safety First's website, or Eddie Bauer (Eddie Bauer is basically the same as Safety First when it comes to strollers... it just has the "Eddie Bauer" name). Good luck.

Try a sit and stand. Once step ahead has one that is a sit and stand with a removable seat for your first child. So since they are so young she can sit in a seat until she is older to use the sit n' stand part. But it looked like it would work for different stages so you don't have to end up buying 2 or 3 different strollers. It was really cool. You can use any car seat, you don't have to purchase a specific one. You can look online or request one of their catalogs and look through it. It is not as long as some of the conventional double strollers. And my kids love it. Good luck!

I was in the same situation. Your Daughter will be about 18 months when your little boy gets here. We used the Baby Trend Single Sit N Stand. This worked great because my little guy could sit down or stand up which he wanted to do a lot more the closer to 2 he got. We still use it today (4.5 and 3 year old) when we are going to be walking for long distances. There are a few different models out now, we only had one to chose from. Make sure you get one with a cup holder. Good luck. It is hard the first year or two having them this close together but after that I really believe it is so much easier.

I was in the grocery store not too long ago and I saw one that really impressed me so I asked the guy about it. And then about two weeks later I went and bought one for myself. It's a Sit & Stand LX (I think that's the exact name). It doesn't come with a carseat part, but you can hook one on and it has pictures of that on the box. Then the back is a little chair and the kid can sit forward or backwards or even stand up (and there's a strap to hold the kid on so they won't fall off). The guy at the store I saw had three kids with him and two were in the stroller. He said in a pinch he could put all three on the stroller and they fit just fine. Also, the front I believe has an umbrella (I bought it for our impending second, so it's still in the box).

Oh, I got it at Burlington Coat Factory for just over $100. Not too shabby, not too long and definitely not too wide. Exactly what I was looking for. Good luck!

We bought the Graco Quattro Tour Duo in Ionic (what a mouthful!) at Walmart online. It's a bit pricey at $220 but extremely well made. A baby seat fits into the back and the front seat holds up to 50 lbs, which was awesome for my big 3 1/2 year old who still loves to ride. Not sure where you're using it? We use it for walks at least a few times a week and it's pretty easy to turn and get through small spaces, etc. The only issue would be if you're trying to fit it into a smaller car. It takes some pretty good manipulation to fit it in our Alero and fills the whole trunk. (It's also pretty heavy) Good luck with your search!

My neighbor just bought a Kolcraft Contours double stroller. It has a universal infant seat adapter that comes with it so you can use it with two infant seats, one infant seat and one toddler seat or two toddler seats for when you're done lugging around the infant carrier. Check Kolcrafts website for a list of compatible car seats. Also, any Graco doulble stroller is usable with a carseat. Its hard to tell from the picture maybe, but they work just like graco single strollers with an infant seat. Good luck... I know there are TONS of them out there.
Oh, on the sit & stand as recommended by another user... You would want to be careful about that one. I hear its great and I wanted one, but with your oldest being just 18 months when you start using a doulbe stroller, its a little young to use the sit & stand in my mind. Just a thought.

Hi C.-
I highly recommend BOB Strollers. I have a duallie BOB Stroller and it is the best stroller I have ever owned! There is an attachment you can purchase (additional $) which allows for the infant carrier seat to be "clicked" on, leaving the other side for the older child. I teach a stroller fitness class called Stroller Strides so my stroller is what makes my business and I honestly think it is the best stroller! (cup holders, key/wallet storage, mesh cargo on the rear of each seat, cargo under carriage, swivel wheel with option to lock, completely folds down-however still takes up a lot of space).

Hope that helps! Good Luck
