Baby Orajel works like a charm. Put a drop on your finger and rub it on his gums. It will numb his gums. My little boy would stop crying in 5 seconds! Good Luck!
I have a 6 month old son who is teething and I don't know what to do. He spends most of the day crying and when he isn't crying he is sleeping. I am at the end of my rope and just don't know how to get the pain to stop so that when he is awake he isn't just crying. Does anyone have and ideas on what I can do? I have a 2 yr old with CP so I didn't really go though this before since she doesn't really feel pain. Having a typical child is like the hardest thing i have done in my life because I am not used to anything others see as normal. Please Help me find a way to make this time easier for us. On saturday we will be driving for 12 hours to go to NC for a month long trip for my daughters treatments, while we are gone we will be sharing a trailer with another family so I have to get the crying to stop. I am open to any and all Ideas.

All of the things mentioned worked well for my son. He got his first four teeth one after the other and the top two were a nightmare. I just saw the mesh teether in Jewel on Sunday. My son also liked the frozen mango in it and the very cold wet wash cloth to suck on. I used the Hyland's teething tablets to calm him down. The Infant Ibuprofen worked better than Tylenol on the pain but did make him constipated. If this cycle continues I would make sure with a doctor that nothing else is wrong. Just in case. Good luck. It does end.

I found that the handheld "nets" that you can put frozen fruit in worked wonders for my daughter. She loved the frozen mango from Trader's Joes. It's really messy, though. :-) I found mine at Target. Also, I also found at night that Motrin worked better than Tylenol. Good luck!!
Are you nursing? If so, try to nurse a little more often to soothe your child. Other things to try (try them all at once if you need to!) baby oragel, Hyland's homeopathic teething tablets, get one of those baby safe feeders where you can put food in the net and the child can chew on it safely - put frozen fruit in it. They carry it at Babies R Us, Target, etc. Also use frozen teethers. Use all these things all day and your baby should be able to tolerate the pain better.
Put a wet washcloth in the fridge and let it get cold, they love to suck on it and knaw on it for relief. Baby ambasol can sooth in a desperate moment. Keep plenty of tylonol on hand it will make your life easier and your little one calmer.
My favorite teething items are:
A vibrating star (yellow star blue handle) available at Walgreens, Dominicks and babies r us. It is soft and they eventually learn to make it vibrate on their own but you can hold one of the points of the start to make it vibrate for them. There is also no liquid inside the star.
You should also try teething tablets and tylenol, motrin.
You can get either hylands or humphreys teething tablets at Walgreens.
There are also mesh feeders which allow you to put foods that they might choke on in them and they can gnaw on them without the choking hazard.
