My daughter got her two bottom teeth within two days of being 10 months. And since then, nothing. I've looked, felt and nothing. Should I start getting worried? She's 14 months now and loving table food, but I'm running out of ideas that are soft enough to gum to death.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thank you for putting my worries to rest. And wouldn't you know it - another tooth just popped up! See, I just needed to ask on here and magic happens. Thanks ladies!

Hi K. -- My little girl was 4 weeks premature and turned 17 months on Monday. She got her two bottom teeth right after her first birthday, and got her top two just as she was turning 15 months. The next two top teeth came a month later. She loves noodles of any kind, all kinds of fresh fruit, turkey weiner (sliced and then each slice cut in quarters). I also make yogurt "popcicles" (vanilla whole milk yogurt with whatever fresh fruit I have and some ground flax seed in the blender then poured in popcicle molds or even snack size ziplocs). I cut these in chunks for her and it was her favorite treat even before she had teeth.

Great food to try are cottage cheese with fruit. All varieties of rice and beans. Can veggies are very soft, pastas, small dices of ham or turkey, and cheeses, it is good to let her learn how to chew. Smoothies are great for nutrition and on the go. Good luck and god bless

My son was really slow getting his teeth. He is 19 months old now and has 10 teeth. He generally gets a few at a time and then nothing for a long time. I've been told that when teeth come in varies a lot kid to kid and it is somewhat genetic. Don't worry- she will get them. But I agreee about the food. It's a pain to think of new and varied foods for a gummy mouth.

No don't get worried. Her teeth will come. I'm sure the fact that she was born so early has something to do with it. But a friend's little boy was almost 18 months before he had any teeth at all, and he was born on time, so it's nothing to be too concerned about. She will get her teeth! You can always call your doctor, tho. That's what they are there for! :)

As far as I know, she's still within the norms on that. My kids had a mouthful by that age, so I'm no help on gummable foods. Sorry! I would guess that since she was a premie, that would make her teeth later, but normal on the adjusted age scale. GL!
