My 7 month old just broke his bottom two teeth and seems to be miserable. At times he is happy as can be, other times he just fusses, and sometimes doesn't want to eat. What teething products out there work the best to ease the discomfort of my little guy?

What can I do next?

Hi T. -

I really liked the Humphreys all natural tablets. You can get them at any CVS, Walgreens, whatever drugstore. They really helped our little ones. Good luck!

I used to use the teething tablets with #1, but did not use them with #2 or #3 because they have unregulated amounts of bella donna in them (no two tablets are the same amount and the product is not regulated by the FDA... back east there were at least 3 parents who gave their children too much of these tablets and the children went into comas... can I say "stupid parents"?!?!) I used to (and still do with #3) rub a little Oragel where the tooth was supposed to come in and give a dose of Tylenol.

I also had little washcloths that I would get wet and roll, then put them in the freezer. Those were great! My children could easily chew on them and it seemed to help for a quick fix.

Hi T.,
I like Hyland's Teething Tablets. They are homeopathic and I have used them with all three of my kiddos. I used the tablets and alternated the IB profren and Tylenol and that always seemed to help with their discomfort. But check with your pediatrician first to make sure these things are okay to give your little guy. Orajel seemed to relieve the pain for just a few minutes but after that didn't seem to help at all....my youngest has 4 teeth already and is getting 4 more in at once and really the only thing that seems to help him is the tablets. Best of luck finding the right product to help relieve your sons discomfort!

I think baby orajel worked the best for my son. Also, if he has any toys that are hard but soft on the outside he might like chewing on those after the orajel is applied. I would just lay the toy in my sons lap and he would pick it up and chew on it. Other than that they just like to be soothed, maybe carry him around and point things out for him to look at, it could distract him from the pain for a little while. They have little gel toys that you can freeze too, my son liked those.
