From what I have read, cutting teeth for an infant is extremely painful and weakens the immune system due to stress. Comforting the child is always important. Sometimes you get lucky and the teeth come through, easily; but, I bought teething rings that you put in the freezer and zwieback which both helped the situaiton.

Slight fever and runny nose accompany teeth very often. Not sure about the rash...

yeah, the rash not too sure...sounds like a little bit of a diaper rash to me. but definitely a low grade fever and runny nose are teething symptoms. Most symptoms of teething mimic a cold. sometimes giving them a frozen washcloth to chew on helps.

My three kids have never had any of those symptoms. Just a whole lot of drooling and chewing on anything and everything that was in reach.
