Swine Flu, Cold/Flu or Something Else?

Ok, so my daughter was cutting teeth a week ago and got this runny nose. No fever and just a small amount of diarrhea and a nasty diaper rash. I know this normally happens, but I ended up getting the cold (stuffy nose at first, sore throat and now a runny nose). She usually gets this when she cuts teeth, which I know is normal. Now I'm coughing more and have diarrhea myself. I started my period which sometimes I can get a little diarrhea but everything I eat is going through me. Well, I'm not suppose to start my period for another week, but I haven't been taking my birth control regularly like I should.

I know a lady at my work just got over the flu, but it was not the swine flu. I know we have 1 case of swine flu in my town, which we just found out on Thursday of last week. I have the symptoms of the swine flu except that I do not have a fever. Now when I take Pepto it seems to kick the diarrhea, which I would think if you had the flu, it would not help it at all.

If anybody has any advise or knows what this may be, I would appreciate it.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

I called the doctor and they think it's a little stomach bug. A girl at my work had the same thing happen to her this weekend. I am better now. Thanks!

Victoria,
Sounds like a stomack bug to me. If you are worried about the flu you can get tested. If you have the strand A Influeneza virus you have swine flu. You mentioned there is no fever, which is a sure sign of the flu, I wouldnt worry too much. Good luck.

Fever is the #1 symptom of any "flu". Sounds to me it's a lower intestine "stomach bug" or your body being messed up from not taking your birth control correctly.

When in doubt, go to the doctor. That is what they are there for!

Hi Victoria,

My son when he teeth would get a runny nose, so we thought he was getting a cold. Then he would get nasty diaherra and his butt would instantly get a rash. He just has a sensitive behind. So the doctor told me to always put a&d ontiment on his as a protected layer, so that if he does get diaherra he would have a layer and he won't get diaper rash as bed. Good luck, but from what I read he has the same symptoms as my son did when he was teething. I hope that helps.

As for you I am not for sure. Sorry!!!
Jules

Well, the good thing is the swine flu is not as big of a deal as they originally thought it was going to be. It is basically the same as any other flu we have go around. So, just call your doctor, let them know what's going on, and don't worry about it. We've all had the flu at some point in our lives, so don't react any differently to this one

I think it is a virus. My 11 month old had the runny nose, diaper rash, and diarrhea all week ( I thought it might be teething)and now the toddler caught it. She's pretty miserable. Just this morning I am having diarrhea, too. I think it all comes together with whatever this is. I don't know anything about the swine flu, but I doubt that what this is... Feel better soon!
