Another question for all the moms who have helped me already!!!!
This is my third question I have gotten such great feed back I have to ask another one. My daughter is 3 months old this week. Where does the time go????? She has been drooling excessively almost all the time. She also has been shoving her fists in her mouth and putting her mouth on everything. ( i know at some point babies put everything in their mouths) But she cramms it in her mouth and bites so hard on them like shes in pain sometimes. I asked a oral surgeon and he says not to even think about teething until 6 months but my mother said that I cut teeth at 4 months and my friends son got two teeth at 4 months. Does anyone have any stories to share and opionions. Sometimes when she gets really irratable and looks like shes hurting I have given her 1/2 dose of tylenol and she is happy baby 15 minutes later. So I believe she is hurting when she is biting on her hands. Which leads me to think shes teething. I see the doc next week and I will also ask him. But I would love to see what you all think!

Well her teeth are definately coming in!!! It hasnt been to bad lately I just give her chew toys and she drools alot but she is doing ok so far. I can feel the teeth trying to come in. They feel like they are right at the surface. Thanks for your input!!!!
My grandson is now 7 months and he's been doing that since he's been 4 months. There is a teething pacifer that works wonders. I got it at Wal-Mart. Also frozen teething rings helps out. My girls didn't go thru this, I guess I was lucky. But my daughter does do those above. And it seems to work. He still hasn't gotten any of his teeth. Every child is different and developes different. Don't worry about a thing.

I have to agree it sounds like teeth. My son cut 4 teeth at the age of 4 months and they had been giving him trouble when he was 3 months. And had all 20 teeth by 13 months.
I would give my son a 1/2 dose of tylenol and it helped him make it thru the teething.
Thankfully his teeth never caused him too much pain, but I heard the teething tablets are great.
He was kept satisfied with the teething toys.
Some babies start teething earlier than expected. Some things that I did that helped were letting them suck on a cold wet washcloth (wring it out well so that no water drips), and if you can find them, using those plastic ice cubes that you freeze. I wouldn't recommend those on her just yet, but later down the road. They are big enough that kids can't swallow them, but make sure her mouth is big enough that it won't hurt her jaws. My daughter is 2 and cutting her very back teeth, so they have been ideal for her for the last few months. You can let her suck on a cold washcloth now, though, as long as you hold it. Maybe wrap it around your fingertip and let her suck on your finger that way. Never underestimate the power of Baby Orajel, either. It never failed to calm my kids down when they were crying from teething pain.
my daughter just turned 3 months today :) and she has 3 teeth feeling like they are coming in and she has the whole upper gum full of what looks like the forming of teeth so it can happen.
My daughter started teething at 2 months and she cut her first tooth at 4 months. Every baby is different. It sounds like that oral surgeon does not have kids because if he did he would know every kid is different. 6 months is about average, but like I said they are individuals.
My daughter didn't get any teeth until she was 10 mos old, but my son got his first two the same day when he was 5 mos. old. Teething can be a very long process. With babies, the tooth can move up and down over a period as long as a few months before it actually erupts. I thought my daughter was teething for 6 mos before she finally got her first tooth. She was always drooling, chewing on her hands, toys, etc, but didn't actually break a tooth until almost a year old. As your baby gets older, I would try halved frozen bananas. My daughter loved them. Good luck!
My son who is now 10 months got his first 2 teeth at five months and he got both of them at the same time and then not even a week later he got 2 more teeth on the top and then about 3 weeks after that he got 2 more top teeth so he has 6 teeth total is just turned 10 months and is working on another one on the bottom. all i did for him was instead of giving him tylenol I made sure I had enough orajel on hand and put it on as recommened and he was the happiest baby while teething. you can tell when the are teething cause like you said everything goes in their mouth and they bite as hard as they can to try and break them through. orajel and a frozen kid thing to chew on worked for me everytime
Well, she really sounds like she's teething. My mother-in-law told me that my husband had 6 teeth at 6 months old. Doctors need to realize that every child is different, and just because the books say that babies don't cut teeth until 6 months doesn't mean that your baby can't get teeth now. My sister is in labor and delivery, and a few months ago, she saw a baby born with teeth. So, I say, bust out the teething rings and the ora-gel!
Sounds like teething to me. Getting teeth can be a slow process. You might see the tip of one come in, but it may take a month or two to fully erupt.

I have a 10-month-old son and Baby #2 on the way in April.
I could have SWORN from the time my son was 3 mos old he was teething for precisely the same reason as you. My son's symptoms were IDENTICAL.
However, now I know (in hindsight) that it was just pre-teething. That's not to say that this is what will happen with your daughter; I'm just sharing my experience. He didn't actually cut his first tooth til a little after 9 mos old - I know that can vary greatly from child to child, though.
When he ACTUALLY was about to pop out that elusive first tooth, he got a low-grade fever 2 days prior.
I would say just hang in there and make sure your little sweetie's got plenty of safe things to chew on!

Of coures she could be teething! That oral surgeon is a luney bird!! My son got two teeth @ 3 months. I thought that was odd and asked my ped if that was normal (daughter didn't get teeth until 9 months) and he said "heck ya, I've seen babies born with teeth"!!
Ask your ped I am sure he/she would tell you it could be teeth!
Yes most dont get teeth till 6 months and on.. but How about this.. My good freinds daughter was born with 2 1/2 OUT!!!! And poor her.. she nursed!!!!! OUCH!!!!
My son was born and his hands went in his mouth!!!! he has been TEETHING since!!!! They do do that... May not be teething.. just give them things to chew on... blankets... toys... all that fun stuff...
I did the tylenol .. but I did not feel it did a thing.. so I stoped....
It I think Could just be your little girl likes to have that chewing thing going on... My son sure did...

It sounds like the ladies who have responded have it in order. My 9 mo still has no teeth, but we swore he was getting them at 3 months just like yours. He has been drooling excessively, knawing on his fists, etc., but no teeth. An old remedy my nana used was a frozen washcloth with a dab of peppermint extract sprayed on it. It makes it more appealing to them, and peppermint is a natural soother. Aside from that, Tylenol and oragel, you should have it taken care of. Teething can also cause stuffy nose, congestion, low grade temp and general fussiness, and oh, red cheeks. Good luck!

My daughter is 15months old and has 18 teeth.. she got her first two teeth at 2 months old.. She lived off of teething tablets and anbesol... Good luck
I have two boys and they both had 2 teeth come in when they were 4 months old. The teething rings that you keep in the fridge worked great for them. And Baby Orajel and tylenol.
my son started cutting teeth at 3 months so just remember every baby is different ! I used ambesol ( to numb his mouth where he teeth were protruding out) to help as well as tylenol ! Good Luck !
My almost 4 month old son is going through the same exact thing. My older son got his first tooth at 4 months. My son likes to chew on bibs, blankets and his fists. I think his shirt is always soaked with drool. We are pretty sure he is about to pop out his first tooth.
I'm not sure where the oral surgeon was getting his information, but both of my daughters began teething at 3mos. The both had a few teeth come in that they went back under the gums, and then several months later (around 8 or 9 mos) they got teeth that stayed. So, yes, your daughter is experiencing something completely normal.
Just wanted to let you know that my daughter cut her first two teeth when she was 3 and a 1/2 months. Youf daughter definitely sounds like she's teething! I wouldn't listen to the oral surgeon (at least his opinion about the teething)...I've had several other mom's tell me same stories about how early their kids started to get teeth. Some babies are even born with teeth already. There are different times for different kids. My daughter's pediatrician also told me that it is very common for baby's to get teeth this early.
