Sorry if this is too personal, but I really need some advice! My thirteen year old son has informed me that he is starting to grow hair in his private area and it is itching him REALLY bad! I mean it's so bad that pretty much the entire time he's home he's scratching down there! I'm afraid he's going to unknowingly start doing it in school too and really get picked on. Is this a normal process in teenage boys and is there anything I can do or give him to help relieve the itching. He is really uncomfortable and this puberty stuff is all new to me!

What can I do next?

I agree with shari, still get it checked out, you want to be sure that maybe dry skin is all it is. I love the fact that he came to you about something so personal ( being a 13 year old boy) you must be doing something right, keep up the good work.

I don't know if this will help, but try gold bond powder. It's helps my husband with itches "down there".

good luck

My teenage brothers both swear by baby powder.

ok so I also have a 13 year old. he has hair everywhere lol. something to try besides the gold bond powder is to have your son make sure he has rinsed all the soap out of the area. and to make sure the entire area is totally dry before getting dressed. it could be that he is not getting all the soap out and that can itch like crazy. also if he is getting dressed without totally being dry he could be getting some sort of yeast infection. my older son who is 19 and the other is 20 says that the extreme itching is not really normal. not abnormal but shouldn't last to long and if it does get it checked out.
