So I'm thinking about getting a tattoo on my bikini line. I find them very sexy, kind of a little naughty but in a fun way. Does any one have one there? Did it hurt terrribly bad? What does your husband/SO think? How long was the healing time?
Thanks for your help!

What can I do next?

I have a few and they are big. I have two Cherries on my right lower ad/pelvic area. And a Fairy on my left hip/pelvic and thigh area.

I got it done back when I was 110 lbs and always showed my mid-drift.

After three babies....they now look more like apples then cherries. I got bad stretch marks.

The Fairy is still looking ok. It did stretch out but didnt suffer the stretch marks the cherries did. It was also lower down in my pelvic region....so makes a bit of difference.

My suggestion if you want to get want there....ONLY do it once you are done having babies. I am going to hopefully get mine fixed....Of I may never wear a two piece bathing suit again.

My hubby loves mine because he knows what they used to look like. He thought they were super cute.

I miss being able to show mine off and not feel self conscience about it.

As others have already said, some places hurt more than others, your pain threshold will be unique to you. If it's something you want, go for it. Being tattooed myself, and having in brother who's been a tattooist for almost 20 years, my advice would lean more towards, make sure that you're sure of your design, it's going to be there a very long time. It will fade, and if you get pregnant it will stretch. More importantly, make sure you choose a licensed, reputable artist that works out of a business, not someones basement. Ask to see his/her portfolio. All artists have there own subtleties and styles. And MOST importantly, make sure they use brand new needles and insist that you see them open the packaging. Even though used needles can be cleaned and sterilized, the process of using them creates barbs on the tips of the needles that can cause excess pain, longer healing time, and quicker fading time. Enjoy your new art :)

That's one of the only places I DON'T have one, LOL!!

They ALL hurt. If you have any stretch marks there, try to work around them; tattooing over scar tissue can 'blow out'. I would imagine that to be a very tender spot to have tattooed, like the inside of my upper arm near my armpit.

Hubby and I have tons of tats ;)

Healing time: the actual scab healing process, for me personally, about 4-5 days (only takes my husband 2 days). You can't sit in the bathub, go swimming, or sunbathe for at least 2 weeks. Use unscented lubriderm on it the first few days during that scabby period. Avoid wearing tight clothing in that area, or clothing that will rub.

I'm more or less covered in ink, send me a PM if you have any other questions :)

Yes, I have one there. Yes, it hurt, but not anywhere close to as much as the one on my back & there is no comparison with the pain of the one on the top of my foot. My husband likes it, though we all liked it a lot more before it got stretched out with 2 pregnancies! If that's not an issue for you, go for it! The healing time isn't bad as long as you follow the instructions & take care of it.

Hi, I have one there too. It hurt but just the same as my others (one on my back and one on my ankle) but- the healing time for me took longer. I think because I have an office job and the constant sitting / standing up and then also I obviously had clothes over it for 8-9 hours per day. Other than that, it was just the same as the others. And I love it :) me and my sister got matching tinkerbell fairies on our bikini lines, Fun!

I have one (the size of a softball :) ) it took me about 4 hours and it was a little painful (because of the time it took..). I actually covered one that was there before about the size of a quarter (maybe half dollar) and that one was cake, no pain and it took like no time. My hubby loves my tattoos and has even designed my next one (as soon as I pop this kid out). Tattoos are amazing just make sure you get something that means something to you and don't just pick something off a wall! Go in knowing exactly what you want and you won't be disappointed.

That's not a terribly sensitive area, so it shouldn't hurt too much. You don't have a lot of nerve endings there.

Healing takes about 2 weeks.
If this would be your first tattoo - the most important rule to remember is DON'T PICK THE SCAB while it's healing. You can pull the color out. It'll itch like crazy for about a week, and then you'll be good.

I do, it hurt- but not that bad. Mine took about 2 1/2 hours so once my endorphins kicked in, I didn't feel the intensity of the pain as much. My hubby loves mine----I got it a while ago, I think the healing time was a few weeks to a month or so. GL with your tattoo!

Umm do you have a tattoo already? I don't have one there, but I think that would be terribly sensitive. If you have a tattoo already, then you probably already understand the pain, and have a decent idea of what is coming. If you don't, yikes, I am not sure that would be a good starter tattoo.

Yes, I have one. Yes, it hurt. I wasn't married, but my husband hates tattoos. (He doesn't dwell on mine.) Healing took, probably, a day.

I have 3 tattoos. A Peacock feather on my left calf in memory of a baby I lost, My ex-husbands name on my left wrist, and swallows on my right wrist. The two tattoos on my wrists barely hurt at all, took about 20 minutes, and healed in about 7 days. The one on my calf hurt worse then anything I have ever felt and took a while to heal. I love tattoos. I think that expressing yourself is important. My husband loves my tattoos (Except for the exs name) but he is actually looking forward to getting one himself. If you go for it, make sure you go to an artist that does it under sterile conditions. Make sure they are licensed and follow the care instructions. Good Luck!
